Robot was not a machine, but a remote device operated by a super genius trapped in a life support device; and even now he's still a 30-odd year old super genius in a 14 year old's body, and suddenly experiencing life firsthand.

Its just a shame that amber was handled as poorly as she was, and that markxeve is as overt as it is, because otherwise it'd do a good job of portraying romance at its emotional core, rather than just the typical boy meets girl story. and obviously people do find healthy life-long relationships by actively seeking dates and junk, but I don't think theres enough stories that simply have a friendship evolve into romance without telegraphing it miles away, or completely erasing the foundational friendship that made the relationship possible. plus i think itd be good for the meathead male viewers that typically watch superhero shows, if they're the type to not value any relationship with a woman if its not romantic or sexual.

So I revisited the comics to see how the aftermath of Omni Man vs Mark was handled there vs the show and god, this is yet another indicator of how the show is such an improvement of the source material. The show dives more into the guilt that Mark feels along with the fear of becoming like his father along with delving more into how Nolan's betrayal has affected Mark and Debbie. I also like the show version of Cecil so much better than the comic version. Both are morally gray individuals who'll do whatever it takes to keep Earth safe but the show has Cecil showcase more genuine compassion and empathy. Unlike in the comic, Cecil is actually concerned about Mark's mental state with him wanting to actually heal before trying to be a hero again. I prefer morally gray characters who despite doing shady things, isn't unfeeling monster and can actually showcase empathy and recognize that some of the things they do are messed up. The writers really underestimated the audience with that choice; and in my opinion, is the only big flaw in season 1. They may have accepted some of that criticism- She had good scenes with Mark in S2E1, and I’m hoping that will be the case with her on the show, going forward.

i think the writers intentionally made amber to be unlikeable in the show so the audience would collectively root for mark x eve rather than mark x amber. and i believe that did happen prior to his fight with omni man in most other realities, which resulted in mark following omni man and the world being destroyed. i read someone else’s comment stating that 99% of realities resulted in invincible turning bad, and i feel like mark’s romantic relationship status at the time of the invincible x omni man fight had a significant influence on his decision. mark would be way more likely to support the idea that humans are inferior and insignificant to super humans if he was dating another super human. amber keeps mark down to earth and demonstrates real human experiences, which keeps mark connected to his humanity. think about it, amber changed atom eve’s whole perspective and ignited her insatiable desire to save others just by hanging out together one time

I think part of the reason Mark is so depressed has to do with his desire to help people. He doesn’t just want to not hurt people, he wants to save them. And not being able to do anything while his dad used him as a human battering ram has got to leave him feeling powerless. A feeling that plays into his guilt because he’s supposed to be better than that, at least in his mind.

I think what they could've done with Amber, if they had to have her at all, is make her actions have consequences. Mark doesn't want to get back with her. Maybe he'd be find just being friends, but he doesn't a girlfriend.
@suzygirl1843 Жыл бұрын
@CollinMcLean Amber and Mark won't break up. They are pushing interracial relationships on Spiderman, Batman, Gen V, The Flash on CW and most other TV shows. They definitely are being sensitive to the issue since Amber became the Defacto villain to nerds last season but trust me, her and Mark are gonna be endgame and Eve will be pushed as this Feminist solo act... at least until Amber grows old and dies.
@user-th1pv6ks5o Жыл бұрын
@@suzygirl1843Huh??? Wgaf about inter-racial couples. Anyways why would they do that, it isn't like that (so I heard) in the comments, and if she gets old and dies before the series ends then she isn't endgame now is she.
@suzygirl1843 Жыл бұрын
@@user-th1pv6ks5o I mean that they might make THIS series more like CW's Arrowverse where comics-wise Oliver & Laurel are endgame but in live action it's Oliver & Felicity who marry and have Mia Queen. They don't have to be faithful to comics all the time. Besides, producers and showrunners don't like their fans, remember? Didn't fans try to remove Iris West even though she and Barry were endgame in the comics and they doubled down on Barry&Iris from S4 and onwards while every other character got less development?
@suzygirl1843 Жыл бұрын
@@user-th1pv6ks5o They are making more and more diverse stories and they're not giving white chicks the spotlight anymore unless they're grumpy Feminist Captain Marvel types. They don't want damsels, they don't want traditional wives, and they won't promote Eve as a typical love interest to Mark, Eve's probably gonna get a girlfriend. If S2 E1 was any indication, they are gonna make Eve hardcore like her other dimension self with a buzzcut who got paralyzed. They're just not gonna make it obvious and just focus on character beats. Amber S1 was a misfire that they're already fixing. Gwen Stacy is also a Trans Rights Activist Cool Girl in an interracial relationship with Miles Morales. Gen V has LGBTQ Asian and black female leads and made the one OP hetero white girl with mind control powers the villain. See a PATTERN? Same producers of Invincible.

As someone who's read Invincible to the end: Most of Amber's stuff is new, so I don't know how that's gonna end in this, because they're stretching out Mark and Eve's relationship much longer. The arc is multiversal heavy, it just at the moment where media companies are finally catching up with comics. They explain Donald very nonchalantly in the books too, basically like everything in the world has one, but they explain and move on.

Why assume they're gonna keep the Mark and Eve Canon? Seth Rogan is pro-interracial relationships as per Gen V.

@@suzygirl1843 Well, for one... Gen V is mostly original show, they can do whatever they want there. Invincible is as close as your getting to a American Anime, a show that follows a source 95%. The Robot-in-the-suit bit could be made to make sense with his character of wanting to see the world after so long of being trapped in a bottle in a cellar - the only 'wait theyre meant to be smart' thing that really annoyed me was Langstrom clearly being able to use portals while in the machine and not just, idk, sending invincible (or even the twins) to another reality while he cooked. Just have him not be able to open portals while under the machine; you can justify it by his mind being actively altered.

Cecil is totally being shady. My biggest discomfort I had at this episode is that it seems a ton of death is coming over a misunderstanding. I really don't enjoy that kind of writing, probably because so much could be avoided with just a little information, but I understand that it's indicative of the show and how things are going to play out, it just eats at my soul. Are they waiting to see fan reception so they have room to reevaluate their plans? Is it lining up the talent for the voices? Is it getting the animation done? Im intrigued to know what part of the process takes the longest, i would adore a making of tagged alongside every season end.

i genuinely adore Ceisel and his grey morality. i think he is actually a very moral person, and uses the fact that sometimes being the caring and concerned guy allows him to do his job, and i think if he didnt have empathy he would be more heavy handed and put less emphasis on the manipulating people into what is effectively self care, which he does a fair amount. i mean, imagine being a person with a strong moral code, but also planetary defence against super beings is your responsibility. i imagine that id try to do my best to look after my assets genuinely, but if coddling them is going to cost the earth a valuable asset at a critical moment id have to balance the immediate threat vs the long term damage to the hero.

To answer your questions, Angstrom did not know the machine would explode. The Maulers just told him "we can't stop it" they did not tell him what would happen if he took the helmet off. Secondly, Robot needed the Maulers, not because he needed someone who could clone _bodies_ but because he needed his _memories_ cloned, and that's what the Maulers do well, perfectly clone someone's memories into a new body.

I love this hollow feeling that the first episode has. It really is like Nolan died. It’s especially very effective because it’s clear Debbie and Mark just keep avoiding the break downs that they both are having. They’re trying their best to move on with their lives but they’re both not okay. Regardless of what Nolan has done, he was still a huge part of both of their lives. He was Mark’s hero and he was the love of Debbie’s life. With him gone, it’s a huge hole that can’t be filled. It’s just really sad to watch despite everything that’s happened.
