Setting Up Liftmaster MyQ Home Bridge with HomeKit

Quickly setting up the Liftmaster MyQ Home Bridge with HomeKit on the iPhone. After reading the reviews on Amazon I thought this would be a chore or have a very broken setup. Once I started it was incredibly easy, even with multiple devices. You should have no problem migrating from the old bridge (LiftMaster Internet Gateway 828LM) or setting it up from scratch.

Good review John. My Liftmaster garage door opener has the MyQ insignia on it, so I assume the MyQ Home Bridge will be able to control my Liftmaster. One video tip: turn the brightness of your iPhone display all the way down when you record it to prevent the iPhone screen from being blown out on video.

bought mine from lift master directly (1/2019) much less than eBay or amazon. $69, they paid for the shipping. Others were $20 or more more

Question would then be, is it worth it? I would say YES. I just say, hey Siri, close garage. Then 90% of the time it closes. The 10% is a mystery. The response is, “not responding”. I just wait and try again, or go to the liftmaster app and close it from there. For some reason, Apple HOME app is quirky and not always connected. I get a “no response” error occasionally. It’s also nice to say, hey Siri, what’s the status of garage? In the HOME app, I have it programmed to close every night at 10pm. So if it’s open, it closes automatically. If it’s closed, it closes anyway. Love it!

I just got the 819LMB. I never set up the MyQ app. Do I need to add my opener to the MyQ app first before setting up the HomeKit bridge?

Did you feel that the upgrade away from the 828 was worth it? From what I can tell the only real difference is that this new model you bought is HomeKit enabled (as you said). If I don’t care about HomeKit any other reasons I should upgrade to this newer model?

That's basically all you get, and it's a bit of a downgrade not having the ethernet port. That said... "Hey Siri open the garage" when you're riding a motorcycle is amazing!

So I finally gave into the temptation of HomeKit support and got one of these things. I’ve noticed opening the device via Siri through my Apple watch is very hit or miss. Often Siri will say the device is not responding, yet the garage door would be closing\opening as requested. Have you run into this? Siri just seems so flaky

I didn’t install mine but want to take it down to get the code off it and don’t know how to release from the bracket and can’t find instructions anywhere and don’t want to break it. agh

Is your demarc in the garage? I am wondering about the hub placement, and how close to the garage it needs to be? My demarc is in the basement and I am not sure this will work...

The Liftmaster Hub is in the basement about as far it could be from the opener in my house. 75ft I'd guess. Works perfectly for me, I expect it would work for you to 😎
