Great video Jason. I saw you on Johns page a ways back. I'm glad to see you making your own videos. You have a great style for teaching what you are passionate about. Thanks for sharing what you have learned. Looking forward to the hydroponics.

I noticed that you posted this about a year ago and was wondering how the worm farm is coming along.

I also use an Aeropress for coffee, and I use a juicer too! I need to make a worm compost factory. Thanks for the upload.

@n2diver Thank you. I've been trying to make my videos educational, since those tend to be the majority of the videos I like to watch on youtube as well. The hydroponics project has been a lot of fun. I'm just finishing up my first lettuce grow now. Those videos will be up soon on my TastyHydroponics channel, but i'll post a reminder video about that here on this channel too once I can get the videos edited and uploaded.

@carrottop8311987 The corner pieces actually came with the Worm Inn. Then I just had to buy three 10ft PVC pipes and cut them to the right size. 18" for the top and bottom, and 36" for the legs.

I'm guessing its a nylon type of bag since natural fabrics might breakdown/rot. Perhaps an eyelet/rivot can be used for the drainage hole(s), perhaps 1/8 or so, or if bigger, then some kind of stainless steel screen.

There's a drawstring at the bottom, and you just open it up and scrape out the worm castings. it doesn't all just fall out when you open the bottom. It's very compact. by the time everything gets to the bottom. You can use a little shovel or just use your hands.

(continued) I'm guessing as the worms multiply, you can take some and put them in your garden, and/or make other new worm factories.

Thanks for the info! Please remember that it would be best to use regular newspaper and cardboard in your bin. The shiny inserts are not good. They use highly processed paper and waxes and artificial inks, (or stuff that is not good in general) if I remember correctly. Avoid onions, citrus and any meat, dairy or salty things... I started mine a while back and it's just so easy I don't understand why everyone doesn't do it. Especially if one gardens.

I'd like to see what the 'harvesting' looks like
@stevebichlmeier31207 жыл бұрын
Pat Keegan, I recently made a you-tube video showing a harvest with a Worm Inn Mega and African Nightcrawlers. I found there's a bit of difference between the castings with the red wigglers and African Nightcrawlers. It took me a bit longer to harvest the red wiggler Mega because of the higher moisture level and compaction.

Good video... I'm new to your channel. Where was it you bought your worms? I bought some last yr. but, I bought from a bad source.

did the worm crawl out the first day?

Have you gotten the castings out yet? How much food are you feeding them per week on average?
@enliteneer11 жыл бұрын
How does a worm compost get too acidic? I don't use any citrus, yet the pH is always on the low side.. is it possible it's too little / or too much food? Also, nothing ever leaks out of the bottom of the Worm Inn.. is this a sign that I need to dampen it with water?

how do you get the worm castings?

Almost 14 months later Jason, do you still have them in your kitchen? Because theres noway on God's green earth that my wife would allow that in the kitchen, and I'm not so sure I would want the worms in my kitchen either, I keep mine in my shed, through the winter come May I bring them outside. Nice video though.

Great video but I am concerned by the number of bananas you consume.
@alan3018911 жыл бұрын
I think you need to dampen that paper as you put it in.

Also, very importantly, that screen keeps the fruit flies out.

@g0dhims3lf Nothing feels better than shredding bills and letting the worms turn them into poop, right?
@ASFx260013 жыл бұрын
@bradgray51 I got my worms from RedWormComposting dot. com. The box I opened in the video was 2 pounds. I got WAY more worms this time compared to when I ordered worms from other places. it was really nice.
@ASFx260013 жыл бұрын
@bradgray51 Yup i've made that mistake before too. Won't be buying from there anymore :P

Not soil! Damp pieces of cardboard and chopped food scraps...3 parts cardboard, one part food.
@NotTelling5113 жыл бұрын
it sure appeared so. If you order from an uncle you don't get the right worms or very many.
