Thank you for not saying "Alexa", and I can't believe the update took 30 mins. I set up six lights and a strip and it took less than four minutes to update. Anyway, the Hue software is a little bit of a tricky thing until you get familiar with it. There is a lot of functionality, just takes a little tinkering.

Hahaha cool video thanks man. Many years after making it, still SUPER helpful. I just got myself the Razer RGB Hub with 2 neon light strips from amazon, originally intended to go inside my pc, but after figuring out that the cable was long enough, I popped the light strips behind my dual monitors, and Synapse picks them up as individual strips. Which means not only do I get all the effects, but most importantly, I am able to activate ambient awareness which is an INSANE immersive experience when gaming. I was hoping the Hue light strips would be able to do this with addressable rgbs, but it seems that a better option is going to be getting my hands on my own strips and making my own hack.

If you have a bunch of Razer gear in your setup, Philips Hue is an amazing option! Brilliant LED strips, but they are hella expensive
@demontekdigital3 жыл бұрын
I doubt you'll see this after 3 years, but the issue you're having with wave, and some of the other effects is Synapse 3 sees the entire strip as a single light. Basically it turns ARGB, (or in the case of light strips, RGBIC) into standard RGB. It's a limitation of Synapse 3 itself. The same thing happens if you were to have 3 fans connected to a single port via splitter cable to the chroma hub. An even better example is when you use Asus Connect to Synapse 3. You'd be better off using your lights with the Hue software it came with.
@ThomasK12J2 жыл бұрын
No it's not a limitation of the software. The LED strip can simply only show you one colour at the same time. You need a Gradient LED strip for multiple colours at the same time!
@demontekdigital2 жыл бұрын
@@ThomasK12J Yup I know what you're talking about. In PC components it's called ARGB, and in light strips you'd put on a wall it's primarily called RGBIC. On light strips that gradient effect is supported by the ICs on the strip. You're correct. If you have a standard set of rgb lights they will never produce multiple colors simultaneously because the chips don't have the info they need to do so. If your strip is RGBIC it means the chips have the necessary info to do multiple colors on a single strip. I have some Minger RGBIC lights around my desk that do some pretty decent effects. All of my PC lights are ARGB, and connected to a Razer hub. My three front fans, and light strip are on their own ports separately, but the rest of my fans are all on one port as a group. They all work independently with the effect itself, but because they're grouped on a single port they can't do other effects. Hopefully this makes sense because I'm finding it hard to explain what I did, LOL.

Honestly it's not. Going over 5m would mean you'd have to buy a big 24v power supply with different power ports. But under 5m, 12v 10a DC power supply with an SPI RGB controller or Arduino (or substitute board) will be anything from £20 to £30. It's just not easy to do buying all the parts seperate and what not. This is what I have www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WS2811-Addressable-Digital-Color-5M-5050-RGB-150-LED-Strip-Waterproof-DC-12V/181815666713?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=480761860297&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-24V-WiFi-Addressable-RGB-LED-Strip-Controller-for-WS2811-UCS1903-App-Alexa/113104718262?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Cost under £20 and uses the Magic Home App, however although it's harder deploying your own custom code on an arduino would be better for more catered lighting.
