Thank you for sharing this video! I read the comments below and I'm having the same issue. Three things you've mentioned to turn off have been off, and I still see the plane. When rendering with IPR, I only see the specular. However when I go save image > openexr, the rendering shows the plane and specular.

Great video. I have a big problem with the shadows in reflectives object over a shadow matte... I can see the backmatte!!! And if turn off the specular the shadow are gone. :-(

In the attributes editor of the objects with shadow matte material applied turn off casts shadows and visible in refection under render stats tab. You will also need to turn off cats shadows under the Arnold tab.
