Hey there, do you sell the tank on your website? I can't seem to find it :( Also, nice to see another welsh person on the internet :D

I released my baby african giant train millipede into my communal enclosure 22 days ago and haven't seen him since. Is this something I should be worried about? Habistat sits round 24.5c - 25.4c air temp. I maintain the soil damp, has wood, spagnum moss, leaf litter. I supplement greenarys and dog food, two cuttlefish bones. The rug consists of Darkling beetles, springtails, diary cow x giant orange isopods and architina reticulata-Giant african land snail. The rug is pretty big its approximately 2ft long 1ft wide 2ft tall, about the size of a baby leopard Gecko viv. If anyone can let me know if I'm being paranoid or if I should go looking, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

He is probably hiding in the substrate. These creatures are most active at night, too. The conditions you have are okay, so unless he was sick or got wounded, he should be somewhere in there eating away:)

I think it's fine like the person before me said, but the other critters MIGHT, disturb or shy away the millipede. But he'll probably get used to it. Check in the night once or twice a day to see if he comes out of his hideyhole.

@@thebotanist7145 yeah, hopefully there aren't any critters that might hurt it in the enclosure.

Would you add a water bowl and with food can you just put it on substrate for them to eat
@sumtheglad Жыл бұрын
Recommend putting food onto bowl instead of substrate. May produce mold quicker on substrate.

How many can you have in that enclosure, and can you mix different species of millipedes in one enclosure?
@thebotanist71453 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't keep two species in one enclosure, they might get territorial. The less the better, since you need a bigger enclosure for more then one millipede. In the enclosure in the Video you could keep 2 small-medium sized millipedes.
@ThunderStruck153 жыл бұрын
Just 1 Giant African Millipede. If that. I would keep scarletts Millipedes or bumblebee millipedes in that. The soil depth should be as deep as your longest millipede so if you have a 12-inch long millipede the soil should be 12 in deep. The longest millipede so 24in long and 12in wide. In a container that small with that many millipedes you're going to have to change the substrate all the time which can interfere with their molting
@nessamillikan62472 жыл бұрын
Exactly. That enclosure is way too small for AGB. I keep Giant Deserts (O. Ornatus) in an enclosure twice that size, and I still feel like I’m not giving them enough room sometimes.

@@thehumanpro2351 the African ones live in a more dry environment than most millipedes. They should be alright so long as there's good ventilation so humidity can escape

@@wmd40 ah alright, sorry i must have been misinformed then. Im looking for giant fire millipedes which need a more humid environment
@ThunderStruck153 жыл бұрын
As with all millipede enclosures if there is a dry side and a wet side it should be okay. Then the critter can decide how much moisture it needs that day.
@aroaceicon112 жыл бұрын
I know that they don’t need a wet environment but they come from very humid places and need moisture and warmth and humidity to be comfortable
