I used my husband big screen. Looked for hours about industrial 261-22 and wore myself out watching videos to remember how to oil it. He then got an email from Mr Cechaflo and couldn’t refind it. I have refound it. I am so grateful for the information he has given and this is from my email. I printed page 7-8-9 and am going to oil which I did years ago remembering I had to lift the machine , knew not to do from the top!! But have to figure how to remove the belt. Thank you so much.

The rubber belt is somehow elastic. With one hand hold the big wheel and try to move it forwards. At the same time carefully force/stretch the belt aside over the wheel top. The rubber belt will slide aside and it will be loose. The sewing machine will be released for the oiling process. Check out the level marks inside of the oil tray. Beforehand, check out if there are no leaks.If necessary clean the sifter where the turbine goes (sewing machine head lower area)

I have taken all oil out with turkey baster and it was thick on bottom. Only half of gasket was present and I printed the whole 44 pages. I had a job to replace a carhart overalls zipper so went to Auto Zone and bought a 1970 Monte Carlo gasket and adhesed two layers together after cutting the pieces of cork to replace the empty gasket. I’ve had no one to tell me if the gasket needed to be enclosed due to creating an air pressurized oil bin to help the oil go thru the filter but I believe yes as I’ve used this wonderful 251-22 since 2015 and had changed oil once but never saw it work like it does now. I can see the oil stream thru the visable glass. Thank you so much. Tonight I finished it sewing like mad to see the oil flow thru. I think I never had it right before. Thanks. Ms Nile Remsing

Does that presser foot height adjustment effectively make your 241-12 a -13 model? There really are differences between these the two models - but not huge differences. Singer describes the 241-13 to be "For sewing Heavy an Extra Heavy Fabrics" and a presser bar lift of 3/8" (5/16" on the -12).

I have a JUKI DDL-8700, my tension disc won't release. I did check and dismantle the thread tension assembly and found out that the problem is the cam that is supposed to push the pin does not move when I pull the the pressure foot lever up.

When the take-up lever is lifted a cam attached to it pushes the little pin that releases the tension discs. Check if the little pin is inside. Perhaps, if it is not reaching the cam. Perhaps, the tension assembly needs to be pushed a little inwards. It can be loosened by unscrewing a little bolt that is placed aside the machine body (kind of set screw). Perhaps, it needs a longer little pin. A nail could be cut longer and placed in center position.

@@Cechaflo No problem with the pin and the tension adjustment assembly. I tested it outside the machine and the tension disc releases as I push the pin. But inside the cam that supposed to push that pin is not doing its job, it remains steady as I move the presser foot up and down. I tried to move the cam using a screw driver but it wotn move even with force. I wonder if there is an adjustment inside or a missing part?

If you are going to sew softer materials it would be necessary to change the feed dog for another one with shorter teeth. A teflon pressure foot would work out much better.

Hi Cechaflo, thank you for all of the videos you make and share; they have helped me out immensely. I was able to follow this video perfectly to alter my Yamata FY8700. Because you are so knowledgeable I am hoping that you maybe can answer a question for me. I own two Singer 111W155, one I use all the time while the other has been sitting as a backup. My problem and or question is regarding the height/lift clearance of the presser feet, specifically I have been trying to find out if there is anyway that I can increase the clearance so the machine can take thicker material. I’m sewing industrial automotive upholstery (vinyl and leather materials) backed with ½” thick foam. I have a very hard time trying to squish the 1” of foam and material under the walking feet to begin sewing. As of now I have not figured out a way to increase the clearance, so I am hoping you may know how, or if its even possible. I mention that I have two identical walking foot machines, because I figured if I could use one for normal thickness sewing and alter my second machine to accommodate the thicker material, so I would not have to purchase another machine. So is its possible to increase the clearance/height of the presser feet on a walking foot machine to accommodate thicker material, or do I simply need to purchasing another machine?

The presser 'feet lever' is lifted by hand or by using the mechanism below with the knee...these are the main points you have to consider to improve the clearance. The 'presser bar lifter' has an excentric knob/node(small camel hump) that pushes the 'presser feet bar' upwards...what you could do is increase this 'hump' by welding a little augment/addition...of course, first you have to take it off, to get it welded, grinded and sanded. Don't lift it too much because the needle bar could touch the small foot when going downwards. Something similar you could do for the 'knee bar lifter'. Before doing anything inspect what you're going to do to understand if it makes sense or not. It's only an idea I hope it works for you...let us know what happened.

Esta máquina en realidad se usa para coser ropa o para pespuntar piel/cuero en zapatería. Tambíen puede usarse para hacer tapicería, pero no es la ideal. Es mejor una máquina de doble o triple arrastre diseñadas especialmente para la tapicería.

Ya entiendo. Su máquina es Singer de doble arrastre, por consiguiente es superior a esta. Cuando el material se va como para el costado, aveces es por que los 'dientes de arrastre' que como su nombre lo indica 'arrastran el material son muy bajitos o hay que regularlos para que sobresalgan hacia arriba un poco mas. También puede ser que la barra de la aguja con su 'prensatelas/pié de presión' ocupe un poco mas de presión para abajo. En cuanto a la velocidad para reducir un poco, cambie la polea que trae su motor por uno mas chico, lo mas que se pueda. En mi canal hay dos videos para reducir la velocidad de una máquina de coser industrial.

Si se queda arriba el prensatelas, significa que no hay presión del resorte que mantiene la barra hácia abajo. O bien se aflojó el tornillo de ajuste de la barra que sostiene al prensatelas...tiene que quitar la tapa lateral y allí se observa ese tornillo de ajuste.

La 241-12 da un máximo de puntada de 4 mm. Creo que la 241-13 es lo mismo. Están diseñadas para dar esa puntada. I have never had a Juki 8700 in my hands, sorry. But, I only would say mechanisms are almost similar in most of sewing machines. thanks for the awesome videos. they all have been a great help to me. I have a question, I have a singer 111g156 that I bought at a real good price. I managed to bring it back to life. changed the timing belt, timed the hook and needle, adjusted the feed dogs, changed the take-up lever (because it was broken) & added a servo motor. everything works now & it sews fine. the only trouble I'm having is my (SPI) stitch per inch. I have it at to the biggest stitch which is 5 SPI. when I sew a single piece of auto upolstery material or even a piece of paper I get 6 SPI. When double that to 2 layers I get 7 SPI & when I double that to 4 layers I get 8 SPI. Any idea on how I can fix this. I've looked through the manual and online and can't find anything on this. Thank you very much for any help you can provide.

The problem is in the 'feed dog'...a 'lower teeth feed dog' is for thin materials...if you double the layers, then it would need a 'feed dog' with thicker teeth. The spring for the ´presser foot bar' should be tightened according to the amount of layers. If you are thinking to work with thin materials, then a 'low teeth feed dog' is useful, otherwise a higher one could cause marks on the material. You could get an intermedium teeth feed dog, able enough to drag thin and heavy materials.

First, please, watch minute Four:24 of this video that shows there is a 'little pin' that pushes the tension discs to open them when 'presser foot lever' is moved upwards to maximum position. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKmoqGZrlpl1f68 If you are moving this 'lever' with your knee, perhaps is lifting the 'presser foot lever' too much. You have to regulate it to only lift a little. Hopefully you solve the problem.

No conozco este tipo de máquina, pero tengo entendido que generalmente todas las barras que sostienen al prensatelas son regulables. El bajarlo un poquito no afectaría. Supongo que es para adaptarle un nuevo modelo de prensatelas.

Muchas gracias por los vídeos, acabo de comprar una maquina de doble arrastre marca Kensaw, he notado que cuanto pongo velocidad sale humo, note que el pie pequeño rosa con la aguja, eso es lo que ocasiona fricción como puedo centrar a la punta de la aguja... le estaré muy agradecido si me ayuda (he visto sus vídeos, teniendo la esperanza de ver eso pero no he encontrado alguno que pueda ayudarme).

Lo primero trate de detectar donde exactamente puede estar la falla y luego tratar de explicarse el porque. ¿El humo que menciona sale del motor o es a causa de alguna fricción/rozamiento de algunas piezas? Si la máquina está cosiendo bien, lo de la aguja que roza la pata pequeña puede solucionarse limando/esmerilando muy poquito el orificio de la patita. Sie el rozamiento es a los lados, es nada mas aflojar el tornillo de ajuste y centrarlo. A lo mejor este orificio lo hicieron para aguja muy delgada y con una mas gruesa alcanza a rozar. También puede suceder cuando la barra de aguja baja muy adelantado o muy retrasado alcanzando a rozar.

@@ehuyustus Creo que a lo mejor puede darse cuenta de donde sale ese humo. Con respecto a la pata, a lo mejor depende de la barra a la que va sujeta esta pata. Casi siempre tienen un tornillo que le da ajuste. Si se afloja un poco podría girar un poquito la patita al lugar deseado para centrarlo. He tratado de buscar la marca kensaw y no la he encontrado en el internet.

Trato de imaginar que pasó. Quizás se aflojó el tornillo sujetador que va a la barra y se quedó el prensatelas abajo sin movimiento hácia arriba. Debe quitar la tapa lateral y ver que esta pasando.

Comienze revisando las dos tensiones.Cuando la tensión superior está demasiado ajustada puede causar que se rompa el hilo con el gancho del cangrejo. Comienze revisando las dos tensiones. También puede suceder que el 'porta bobina/porta carrete' que lleva una laminita con dos tornillitos en miniatura para regular la tensión esté 'gastado o vencido' en esa parte y hace que el hilo se ajuste y no corra libremente. De ser así la solución sería comprar un portacarrete nuevo. No tengo mas ideas por el momento, ya lo ideal sería ver personalmente la máquina de coser. Disculpe no poder ayudar mas.

Talvez tenga que dar mas 'ajuste' a la 'tensión inferior' que pertenece a la 'bobina', Hay una 'laminita' que produce la tensión para el hilo inferior. Esta laminita tiene dos tornillitos en miniatura. Hay que dar un porquito de ajuste al tornillito de la parte delantera. El tornillito de atrás no tocar para nada. Con un desarmador bien fino puede hacerlo, dandole vuelta al tornillito y probando que el hilo no vaya quedar muy ajustado. Con este ajuste la tensión superior se va alivianar y vamos a tener una 'tensión' balanceada.

El 'prensatelas' tiene su altura fija y solamente se levanta a su máxima altura con la palanquita de la parte de atrás. La altura que nos dé es lo máximo de grosor de material que nos permitirá coser. El que regula la presión del 'prensatelas' es el resorte que empuja su barra para abajo.

Ahora entiendo mejor la duda que tiene. La máquina del video da esa altura máxima, pero a la hora de bajar la palanquita obligatoriamente tiene que alinearse con la placa base para ponerse en contacto con los dientes. La altura máxima del prensatelas es para cada modelo de máquina...unas dan mas altura y otras menos...esta 'altura' es el 'grueso' de material que nos permitirá coser.
