Setting up the Samsung 4-door French Door Refrigerator

The video is filmed on the Samsung 28-cu ft 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with Ice Maker model: RF28R7201SR with (Fingerprint-Resistant Stainless Steel) ENERGY STAR.
After our new fridge came, we spent some time setting up the temperature settings, water line, and filter. There may be other Samsung models that are similar in temperature control setup.
I'll show the setup after the delivery folks plugged in the waterline (not covered in the video).
I thought I share what we learned on the setup, water filter, and some tips on our troubleshooting to help others.

I liked this video due to that Unlock button that you explained. I just bought a Samsung fridge and could not figure out why the panel would not show me the different presents as I was pressing the Fridge and Freezer buttons. Turns out the Alarm button doubles as a lock. Click that for 3 seconds and Voila!. Thank you very much.

After setting up the temperature, it will revert back to show current temperature. It will take time to reach new temperature.

Thanks for posting this. Since this is a totally new refrig, I feel like I'm on the "Bleeding Edge" of technology. I am trying to remove the glass shelf above the vegetable bins. None of the articles or KZbins are helping. I think this model may be different, but I have not yet found anything that helps. The manual says to remove the left bin and pull it out but it appears to be attached to the water filter housing. Any ideas?

@@netman88 I find that hard to believe. There are a number of youtubes showing its removal on previous models of the refrigerator. But it does not work on this model. Something got spilled and the liquid is caught between the glass and the frame. The manual is hopeless. I will continue to explore and report back, unless someone else has an idea.

Well, I actually got a call from Samsung technician - after calling and waiting on the phone for almost the full day. I removed the shelf but it took 2 people. I then struggled to take out the clips that hold the glass. I decided to not put the clips back on after cleaning the glass. For now on, I just remove the glass and leave the shelf there. Mum's the word. I wouldn't want to violate my warranty ;-) I am attaching a link they sent me. Shutdown the water to the fridge, remove filter and reinstall. Also check the water line if there's a bend in the line.

We got the top working but the freezer is still warm. We unlocked the controls ...your video was key for that. How long does it take for the freezer to drop in temperature?

Check the water line for kinks. Maybe it’s not getting enough water. I just use the default. Not sure what you mean by signs next to freezer.

I setup mines to 0F. If your fridge is new, it's probably in demo mode so you will need to set up some temperature to get it out of that mode.

I just setup this exact fridge today. There's a one-step shelf (upper left by ice maker) that is bolted to next shelf on the right and can't be flipped up like intended. I am not talking about the 2 step shelf. Do you know how to get that bolt out or am i not operating it correctly? I seen in the diagram that it flips up so... 🤷

Nevermind. Seen another video after thus and the gentleman shows that it snaps upwards. No tools necessary and bolt and plastic clasp is supposed to be there. Whew, I almost grabbed a toolbag to remove, too.

Went through troubleshooting with the tech, but was not able to resolve it. Now I have wait another week for a replacement. This is a really bad first impression by Samsung.

Don't know. Maybe something got damaged in shipping or Samsung didn't do QA on it . Seems like buying appliance is like luck of the draw. I once purchased a dryer from another brand and there were 2 defects out of the box also.

How much space is needed around the sides for ventilation?

For freezer side, don't over fill belong the shelves. For the Fridge, don't overfill where there's no space blocking the holes. If no space, the fridge will have problems and fail with a mechanical issue. We encountered that issue with another fridge.

You have to unlock the button by holding the "Door Alarm" for a few seconds before you can do anything. If that's not the issue, call the place you purchased it.

I realize your question has probably been answered already however I had to manually turn this feature on by pressing and holding the door alarm button for 3 seconds till it beeps than holding the fridge button for 3 seconds till it beeps and the water pitcher illuminates.

The installer connected it. Pipe clamp with water line installation kit. Needs 1/4” plastic tubing to molded end (bulb). 1/4” compression nut (need to be purchased, not included).

Hey! I have this exact same fridge. I unlocked the display like you said (hold the alarm button for 3 secs) I changed the fridge temp to 37 F and freezer to 0. However it returns back to a higher temperature, is that because it will take a couple hours to reach the temp I set? And once I have clicked 37 F for Fridge and 0 for the freezer, do I just leave it and wait a couple hours for it to reach the set temperature? Would help a lot thank you!

O FF means demo mode or it's not setup. If it doesn't let you, unlock the panel then hold the 2 keypad to get it out of demo mode. Try to change the temperature. If you setup the desired temperature, it will take a time to reach that temperature. It will show at the current temperature at the meantime.
