Thanks Jeff! I think you got the jump on all of us by being such a wiz on violin as a kid. Your chops and tasteful playing speak for themselves.

One of the best basses I've ever owned. Cort have done a fantastic job of building this bass. Had the pleasure of meeting the guys who helped deign this, Found out so much about this instrument.

In total agreement. Set mine up exactly like Jeff does right down to the string gauge, minimal fret relief and choice of a Babicz bridge. They play like a dream and have heavenly tone.

crazyuncleduke9 That's awesome, how do you find it in a gig situation, enough punch and cut? Cheers, and all the best!
@crazyuncleduke99 жыл бұрын
Hello John, Thanks for the reply but I'm confused about your punch and cut question. Are you talking about tone? My comment was more to address the playability of my basses. I have a very light touch and prefer very low string action. Babicz bridges allow me to get the strings right where I like them. No sharp saddle height adjusting screws to dig into my hand when palm muting. Cheers.

There is only one guy you can compare to the greatest bass player of all time. And that is Jeff.
@vincentm47178 жыл бұрын
That is a beautiful sweet tone. no ugly electronic distortion. And for a guy that does not slap nor use altered tunings or a 5 or 6 string jeff gets alot out of the bass using mostly fingerstyle playing. Im always watching his videos for inspiration because im an older fingerstyle player and its highy unlikely i will learn 2 hand tapping or any of the other styles ive mentioned. But i love my fretless!
@SuperSquark10 жыл бұрын
Great Playing, Nice to know you can fix these things. He's trying to say its accurately built from odd bits of wood and gets no set up before it leaves the factory. Do they check the fret ends are smooth? Cort in the act of competing on price.

I've been looking for a bass that has low action and can have low tension on the strings in standard tuning, does this bass comply with this? Years ago a friend lent me his bass, no markings, old, a bit beat up but played beatifully. Minimal effort on pressing the strings on the board and a nice not too tight tension on the strings. Anyone has any suggestions or tips on bass models or ways I can achieve this?
@ocean43159 жыл бұрын
Jeff uses a very light gauge of strings. He says that he plays very lightly though in another video.

Jeff, You get a very low action with no buzz because your bass has a 12" neck radius ... a very flat board. not because you dig light gauge strings. :-) actually bigger gauge strings permit you do get a better low action, because of the less amplitude of the string. i know this quite well because i'm one of these damn persons who love the jazz bass for its great tone but has to deal with a neck design and a neck radius that basically makes you mad. to get a low action with no buzz on a jazz bass it's impossible. it is like marriage ... you have to compromise ! ahahah

@pleximanic10 жыл бұрын
What wood is the fretboard made of ?
@counterpoint796310 жыл бұрын
Fretboards are normally made of rosewood. It's the best. That's what they used for the Jeff Berlin Signature bass.
@pleximanic10 жыл бұрын
Counterpoint Well I know I've built basses for 40 years, but it seemed unusually dark to be rosewood.

It could be a ebony fretboard. I have his original peavey palaedium sig bass from the 90's and the board is ebony. Nice bass!
