Awesome video man. I appreciate how much control you and Matt have loading and deloading this exercise. Can you please make one for loading incline dumbbell bench?? I kick mine up with my knees but struggle to control it on the way up when I start going into my heavier working sets. I think a lot of us could benefit from tips on incline dumbbell benching with that level of control.
@JerryBisMe10 жыл бұрын
Oh that's how it's done! I usually get a running start jump and twist in mid air to slam my back into the bench and use the momentum to get the weights in position. Sometimes when you lift heavy though the momentum from my run is too much with the weight and I slide off the bench. I need to try this with my run though. Thanks!

For me, if this demonstrates anything it's how that if you cannot get the weights into position to press, you are probably using too heavy of weight. I don't know how many guys I see ask for assistance to get dumbbells up on bench press like this, and in their working set they do 1/4 ROM. Obviously, that's all they are gonna do, because they couldn't do one full press to get the weight up.

breathings a bit off. Should be inhaling while the dumbbell drops and exhaling after you finish the push
@yuckylavado10 жыл бұрын
Research the valsalva breathing technique in regards to powerlifting. Breathing during the eccentric will likely take away from stability and in turn-- strength.
@mliniman10 жыл бұрын
yuckylavado that's exactly what I was referring to. You're not performing the valsalva maneuver right. You shouldn't be exhaling while doing the concentric portion of the lift which you are. Wait till you've pressed the weight, then exhale.

Yeah. There's more than one way to skin a cat. I've always had them on my knees and rock back with arms extended. Honestly, if you struggle with this method, then you're prob not strong enough or coordinated enough to use that kind of weight....
