Great video, so happy to see people make a video of the correct way of doing things! Helpful and thanks again for the video.

Great job▪ followed the proper procedure ▪ getting closer to .001'' will be a good practice bcuz down the road the bearing will get more play so getting closer to .001" instead of .004" is a good practice. Good job though

How do you figure he followed proper procedure, because when he pushed against he got.004 and when he pulled against it he got .004-005 which is a total of .008-.009. He changed that one not long after he shot this video.

👌best video on how to use a dial indicator with its base to measure front bearings end play bro👍

You’re wrong, because if you pushed against and you got 4 and you pulled it and got 4-5, that’s a total of 8-9. Which is out of spec.

Replace cup, cone, races, and spacer. Do not back off bearing load torque. If spacer is left out ,torque the old method. 200foot pounds back off 1 turn ,torque 50 foot pounds, reassemble, check end play .001-.005. Adjust axle nut if needed .Reassemble and bend tabs.

Last time I checked 4 + 4-5 equals 8-9 meaning you have too much end play. Spec is 1-5 total, not each. Hope you like changing wheel seals because you probably changed that one not long after you posted this video.

I think he's right on Shannon. Looks like he's got 4 to 5 thousandths to me. He's got .004 to.005 between the back and front not .004 plus .005. He could probably go a tiny bit tighter, but we're splitting hairs there. Literally one dowl tighter would put him almost too tight at .0005 to .001 in my experience.

What do you do when a mechanic doesn't use a tourqe wrench insisting that he's been doing it so long he doesn't need to use one?

Find a different one. -diesel mechanic

@@shawnevans9106correct. also find a different one if they say that all bearings are adjusted the same way across all manufacturers and setups.
