Joel, met my partner on a trip with my friends...FROM ENGLAND...in Vegas, that was 20 years ago and we own 5 homes now...in the Mojave and Indiana, bought them cheap, Lots of blood and sweat, to make them sell-able....but it has been a great 20, hopefully 20 more!

Investing in property long term is a sensible option for your financial future. It provides you with rental income and the option to sell at a profit in the future. I love Yorkshire. It never ceases to amaze me how much the topography reminds me of NW Arkansas. Just sitting about waiting on the laundry to be done and watching it snow. This is the "big one" we've been waiting on. Maybe up to 10 inches.

I'm self employed and totally on same page as you Joel in regards pensions for two reasons. Firstly, paying into something voluntarily for so many years when I could die any day and have used that money doesn't sit well with me . More than that though, I can create more money from my business to secure my future by re investing than paying into a pension. It's a no brainer! I remember when I got my first mortgage, I was 22 or 23 and had to have life insurance and did that for about 6 years and then cancelled it. Saved myself £50 month, got my all my initial payments back and eventually paid off my mortgage and I'm still alive so was the right decision, also who wants to tempt fate 🙃.

Yeah, I am one of those people, I work in Waitrose and a customer came up to me today, and asked if we had any ice cubes, I walked down to the freezer area, where a sign says Ice Cubes, even though he told me their were none, I HAD TO LOOK! - he was right. But we had some out the back, so he got his cubes. Not sure if it was the fact it was sub zero outside, or as sometimes the obvious is not so obvious, was playing on my mind.

Joel, I am glad you are getting settled. What an interesting area, one minute it seems you are walking in the middle of nowhere, then you are at a Dunkin' Donuts. How cool. Plus it seems all the essentials are close by. Umm... where did you get that pink shopping bag with the pig? Is it for bacon and other pork product purchases? Good luck with the purchase of the property. My friend did the same thing, invested in small apartment buildings as his retirement fund. You might want to hold on to Keegan's old bathroom fixtures if you plan to renovate the rental house. At least see if they would work and if it saves you some $$$. BTW, you haven't posted any shorts in a while...

Harry potter tour looked Amazing. Lovely day out for you all 😊 We have a Paper bin , GFT ( veggie,Fruit Garden rubbish bin) Normal bin ( some have an underground container. Somewhere where they live ) then the Normal Rubbish bin is taken away. Replaced with one to put your plastic in Yes Some parts of Europe do re- cycling Joel 😜 if not done correctly we can get a Fine 🫣. Lovely to see you Slowly setting in. Speaking for myself and probably a lot of others, I love your "messy" vlogs. Life is happening as you speak and you are being very real. My husband just remarked that you seem more settled these days. He watches you occasionally and is glad that you found someone to be happy with. By the way, he says that Keegan getting you out of London is the best thing to ever happen to you. I've been to the UK four times since 2009 and I love London. He is not a fan. We both love York and all of Scotland.

Your retirement plan seems very logical to me for what you do. Frankly, we're dealing with my son's "higher education" savings right now and it's SO limiting!! The money MUST go to an accredited university or community college. He's studying to become a pilot and university pilot programs are exponentially more expensive than if he just continued through his current flight school. I kind of wish we'd just put the money in a regular savings so it could be spent as he needed, but we didn't know he'd be going this route. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Oh well. So, you do you and live your happy Yorkshire life. It looks beautiful there. 😊

Enjoyed a look at your first week in your town and home. Ava looks like she is settling in and now has a buddy to hang with when your out and about. The thing I regret, while saving for retirement, is I didn’t diversify my stock portfolio as much as I should have done. Luckily, I do have a monthly income from a company pension and multiple other sources. Peace of mind in your retirement years makes it way more enjoyable. It never hurts to seek advice from a personal investment advisor. Enjoy your new home and stay well.

I'm with you on the pension thing. I've been self-employed for (gulp) 25 years next month... and I don't have much put away. Maybe I should and, like you, might be put in a not-so-great situation later in life because of it. I live a comfortable life without a lot of worry or large possessions. But worrying about it and sacrificing everything now for a possible future doesn't fit with my way of thinking... for me, of course. I don't have kids to worry about passing $$ on to... and I could get hit by a bus tomorrow, but at least I know I lived the life I wanted to. My father worked for the same company for years, and when he got sick with cancer at the end of his career, they gave him a watch and said "thanks, byeeee." He passed away the next year at age 61... and he never got to spend the money he had saved away for the future. I'll take my chances and deal with that when the time comes... and if I'm doing good and you fall on hard times in 30 years, you can come live in my backyard lol!!
