When I arrive, I had only HK$1000. Worked as a dishwasher at a steak house right away and sleep at the back of the restuarant. After 3 months, I was able to rent a room, go to school in the day time and work at the restuarant at night, sleeping less than 4 hours per day. Able to get job rotation in the restuarent as a waiter, cook, bar tender and manager. After graduation, I worked as a professional engineer with MBA, teach part time in college. Climbed the corporate ladder to supervisor, manager, VP and director of the corpoaration. As long as you have drive and willing to learn and work hard, you can be successful. Cheers to all our Hongkongese... work hard and be sucessful.. you can do it. Nothing can stop us Hongkongese. We can surive anywhere in the world. Hongkongees are the second highest income group in UK, US, Canada, Australia and EU.

@David Lau Everybody will Not be as successful as you which is a reality, because some Chinese engineers are born and raised in UK, US, Canada, Australia and EU, but they will never be VP and Director of the corporation!!!! Tons and tons of people not bright enough to graduate from college can never get too far in life no matter what country they live in like me!!!!!!!!!

@Min Lui. Yes, without a college degree these days it will be difficult anywhere. If no degree I encourage my kids to learn some sort of skill.

David Lau don't talk crab. Time has changed. Now cost has increased and it is not easy to find jobs with reasonable pay .The Hongers were ok in Hong Kong. Those who migrated were divorced after a short period because of many difficulties. Families destroyed. If they remain in Hong Kong their life is a happy one.

Please don't encourage and give the idea that is ok for everyone to migrate. Do u know that majority of them after listening to people u, migrate and are suffering in host country and too shameful or financially not able to return to h. k. Please give the factual and realistic view. Tell the whole story and do statisticsal research. Don't entice ignorant hongers to jump in and destroy their families. They are ok in h k.
Me too, also immigrated to 🍁 for 30+ years. Your situation will be very close to mine. After settling down, I never think to go back to HK. I cannot adapt to the live in HK lu.😅
My dad immigrated to England in the 1950’s. He borrowed money to paid his sea trip, the journey took months and he suffered many sea sickness. He left behind a grandma, a mum , a wife and a one year old son. For the first three months after he arrived in England he could not find work, by then he had already left home about 6 months. My dad was a farmer who could not read or write. With determination AND determination he self taught to write and read so that he could keep in contact with his family. The first time he went back to see his family in Hong Kong was 8 years later. He stayed for a year and build a new house before coming back to England. I am telling this story just to let you know in my dad’s time it was perhaps 10 times harder. So don’t complain or give up easily. Good luck!

Oh I so agree. It was really tough for us too. Even though there are a lot of Chinese here, the culture is different from HK.

I have met Hong Kong people came to England for 40, 50 years and they don't speak English or very little English! This is the first hurdle to conquer. I have many English friends and socialise with many. I am retired now, reasonable pension income as I worked but retired early. Yes, initially homesick a bit but it will get better. I have also met some new comers from HK and the young ones now speak English. They found jobs. Good luck and good lives to you! @@HappyTime-sh7ie
I normally don’t leave any comments on KZbin but found that I must thank both for putting up this video. Thanks Faye and Stevo, you’ve done a great sharing.

You two are so great , the mindset is very important, if you concentrate on the negative, everything would be negative, remember why you immigrate in the first place ! And thanks for bringing the joyful moments to your subscribers ✌️✌️✌️
