If you’re using the HDMI out and a HDMI to USB video card, look for the USB video card as a source in OBS. If you’re trying to stream via USB out on the camera, there should be a source. It should. It has a micro-hdmi out, but as the specs say, it only outputs audio on playback only. Personally, when I Zoom/stream on the ZV1, I don't use the the camera's mic and set it to the computer's mic since it's closer than the camera's mic.

Hi may I ask if u use this camera as a webcam on zoom meetings,can we zoom in and zoom out (Sony zv1)
@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
I use it as a camera for Zoom, henceforth the video. I mostly use it as a stationary camera behind my laptop. I use it Zoomed out so it get's the widest aperture for better exposure with the blurry background. Manipulating a camera during a zoom session may be distracting, and zooming in/out also affects exposure, focus, etc. If you want to show something in your zoom session, you can pre-record and share the video. I've done that for a Zoom session for a video course I was taking.

Hi Bliss Bliss! In the settings for Zoom, you can chose the USB Camera audio (the ZV1) or you can chose the computer audio. In one session, I attached a lav mic to the ZV1 and it worked well too, but I had to remove the mic so I could refill my coffee or step away from the session.

Which camera and lense did you used for your main shot in this video? Are the same you used on you other videos on your channel? (Colours on this video looks different) Im doubting between zv1 or a6400 for my streams and cant decide
@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. In this video, I used the A6400 with the kit lens. I also shot in 1080p 24fps with 1/50 shutter speed, 800iso, so this is why it looks different. Now I use the A6400 30fps, 1/60 shutter, 200 ISO with better color calibration, lighting, and the Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. The handheld shots are from the Z6400 at 1000iso so this is why they are grainy. Use ZV1 for streams. Pat Flynn does with one of his cams, and if your platform only supports up to 1080p, the ZV1 can handle it.

What port on the ZV-1 are you using for the power bank? Wouldn't the HDMI-mini port be occupied with the HDMI cable that's daisy chained to the capture card?
@TechTravelBeyond4 жыл бұрын
There are three ports on your ZV1. Mic in, HDMI-out, and the one you use to charge your camera battery: micro-USB.

Hi, have you ever tried Live Streaming using your phone (iPhone 11) as a hotspot?? Outdoors???
@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
Other than Zoom, I have not live-streamed with the ZV1 outdoors. I’ve just used the iPhone itself for a stream and that worked well since the phone camera is good on its own and it wouldn’t blow through the phone power with cellular and wifi simultaneously. Perhaps I may try that when I go to Formula 1 in October!

I have a question, I found that when I plugged in the charging cord to my computer along with the hdmi the camera turns off. Do you have any suggestions to help with the charging while streaming? I also will try plugging into a charging bank vs the computer
@TechTravelBeyond2 жыл бұрын
This video shows you exactly how to stream without using the USB. I used a micro-HDMI out into a USB capture card, and this gives you better resolution than USB to computer video output (see the ZV1 manual--it's not HD via USB). Also, follow the settings I give you, and you'll not have the overheat-power off issue. If you do not hit record on the camera, it's simply sending out video. I've been able to attenda a zoom class for longer than 1.5. hours without an issue with better output resolution. If you want to record the session, you can let your computer do that with all attendees and session materials. I made a video on external power with the ZV1 streaming here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIXZYauGjbhsfdU Thanks for watching!

Best place to start with vlogging and getting comfortable with a camera is your phone! You can even edit on your phone, and download ZV1 video to your phone. Adobe Premier rush is great and works on iPhone and on laptop. If yours is a Mac, I started with iMovie. It’s also on iPhone! There’s an great hour long video on Think Media about editing with iMovie. Once you get editing basics there, you’ll be able to make a faster transition to bigger apps like Final Cut Pro or Davinci Resolve. You’ve got a good start with the phone. Keep going there and take your time! Lots of creators started with just a phone. I watch channels that just shoot with a phone, and while most would never know it, I can tell. A few of my shorts here and on Instagram have been filmed on an older iPhone SE and 13Pro.

@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, this video did not feature a 4K cam link. That’s because not all computers and programs can process 4K streaming properly, and not all internet services allow for 4K upstream bandwidth. What I used was an HD streaming card which is more common and compatible. Thanks for watching!

@@TechTravelBeyond Okay thank you, and with this card you can record in 1080p!?
@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
@@blablablub5970 yes! It will give you good video at 1080p. It will also be less processing for your computer since the video is processed via the video card, and a good clean 1080p signal will be less upload bandwith for your livestream. This will save bandwith if your provider measures all your bandwith and applies it to your monthly caps and charges extra if you go over their limits. Also some livestream platforms or meetings may downscale 4k to 1080p anyways. This is the same for some live recording platforms. Thanks for watching!

If you're using Zoom, it gives you video source in the settings menu when you plug the adapter and cable into the USB port like I demonstrated. I don't use OBS nor Elgato, so perhaps that is over riding your source options in Zoom..

Got the ZV-1 in order to use it as a webcam for Zoom, but the charge it's getting from the USB cable is not enough, so after a while, it runs out of battery and shuts down. Details: - I use the "Imaging Web Edge Webcam" software on MacOS, - I get similar behavior both with the USD cable that was in the box and a slightly longer one I bought from Amazon. - Actually, with the long one from Amazon, it seems to be running out of battery faster. - I've connected it directly to my mac mini which already has many USB devices. Actually, when I tried to connect my iPad after that, macOS complained about an accessory that draws too much power (the ZV-1), so I wonder if I just need to plug everything else in a powered data hub, so the mac mini provides more voltage to the camera. My expectation was that if I had it plugged-in I could be doing videoconferences for 7-8 hours per day-not that the battery would run out after 50min. I also wonder if the people that are talking about how an amazing webcam it is, are using HDMI for data and are only powering via USB.
@TechTravelBeyond4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I didn’t use the imaging edge software in this video because it wasn’t out at the time I produced this video. It also gives a lower resolution, not HD via that method. Are you using the same setup I do in the video? If not, try it. It works.

Hi Ab, Welcome! I started with cameras long ago with still photography. As I got inspired to move to video over 2 years ago, I was watching lots of Think Media. They have lots of ZV1 and How To tips. Jason Vong is a good Sony guy and has videos on settings for Sony cameras. Also, Sidney Diongzon has great videos on how to use and set up the Zv1 too. On their channel pages, do a search for ZV-1 and you’ll see their videos on the camera. Take your time and play with what you learn. You’ll get faster over time with camera basics. After that, the best place to learn about creating content is Think Media. I did a 7-day challenge, and learned from their Video Influencers course. Learn the camera, and start creating content, and have fun. I’ll have more videos soon, but start with Jason Vongs channel. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

I can’t find the answer to this question... can I record to the cameras so card at the same time as I Zoom? I use Zoom for teaching so I’m the only active camera and I need a high quality recording which Zoom doesn’t give me
@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
I believe you can by just hitting record while outputting video via HDMI as in this video. You have to make sure your settings are correct so you don't output the camera's screen info through HDMI. I cover that in the video. As far as recording, you have to ensure the overheat setting is off, and you have a high capacity video card. I've not had the need to do this so you might do a test call to record and try on Zoom first. Remember too, anything above HD will require lots of SD card space and processing power for your camera and any editing program.

I have USB power supply "on" and the USB cable plugged into a USB port in my desktop computer. It shows the plugged in/charging symbol next to the battery level meter icon too. But I keep running into "battery exhausted" issues even when my camera is plugged into the USB of my computer. That seems to indicate that the electrical draw from the ZV-1 exceeds the power supplied by the USB port of my computer (but I've tested this with all my USB ports), so after a few hours of webcamming, the camera will have no more battery life. I've lost the camera multiple times during Zoom calls. Any way to fix this? I need the USB to be connected to my computer (not a wall charger that would provide higher electrical current) because I need to use the Sony Live Imaging Edge software that requires the USB to computer connection.
@TechTravelBeyond3 жыл бұрын
This video was not about using the Sony Imaging Edge software and plugging in the USB adapter into a computer. Perhaps you need to reference Sony for that. In this video I used an external power source via USB and micro HDMI out with a capture card for video from the ZV1. Also using Sony Imaging Edge outputs a smaller video resolution as opposed to HD at 1080p using the setup in this video.
@peTeMelster3 жыл бұрын
@@TechTravelBeyond yes, I know all that and have it set up that way too for most videoconferencing software. However, there are situations that I prefer the Sony software via USB (some videoconferencing software force the wrong aspect ratio with no options to change it, so the image gets destroyed), which then forces me to use the Sony webcam software that uses a lower resolution the videoconferencing software can support and at the right aspect ratio. However, that ultimately leads to the battery drain issue. Was hoping someone had a solution without buying more hardware (such as a dummy battery or powered USB hub) or have experienced the same issue.

Yup, this is not an action cam for running. As a webcam, as long as you use external power, you’re not filming, and you get the settings right, you can stream for hours. See 5:00 in the setup. If you need to record your stream, let the computer do it so the camera isn’t writing video to an SD card. Thanks for watching!

Sony has now a webcam software. No capture-card needed anymore.
@TechTravelBeyond4 жыл бұрын
I have a Mac, so the webcam software was originally released for only windows. The capture card works for Mac/linux and Windows, eliminates the need for other software like OBS, since it sees the capture card output as a standard 1080p webcam. The Sony software outputs a lower resolution of 1080 x 576 and no audio.
