In a weekend where nothing felt right behind the wheel, I only had one point of positivity: despite all these issues and lack of confidence, we were still just a few tenths behind the TA90 Supra's PB... Just imagine the M2 with all these issues sorted. SOON!

The upper wheel wake is feeding the rear wing by the way. The better the front and rear upper tire wake is, the better the rear wing works, because the vorticity of the upper wheels and the rear wing all co-rotate and influence each other. Since the tire wake is very consistent, it shares that consistency with the rear wing tip vortices, which in turn help the rear wing work better.

The car is understeery for sure, but its far from the disaster that you show here Jackie. Your driving style just works with a car with a lot of front-end only. You release the brakes way too early and you get on gas way before the apex while the car is still struggling to turn and thus unload the front and just push wide. Look at the first few corners of your second attempt (last attempt) on last day, the car turned beautifully because you stayed on the brakes (probably because you though you went in too hot, when in fact, it was perfect). If you want the car to be fast for your current driving style you should stop chasing rear grip. The more you add, the worse the car will be for you.

Yea this seems to be the issue. The trail is absent in a lot of places, and the corner entry part throttle is killing any rotation that would’ve been occuring.

These cars have seriously impressed me for how heavy they are. I wonder how much more weights can be stripped out. Keep pushing development

We're at about 3575 lbs, but are working on trimming more weight out during the winter. Fingers crossed for another significant chunk.

I still think it's amazing how much context switching you have to do to drive back to back stints between two incredibly different cars and builds. You'll get it done out at Laguna - see you there, safe travels!

If the car is too heavy for the current needs and speeds of the track no amount of suspension change (unless is all wrong)willl make magic happen. Might help minor but you need more tire for the weight or way more downforce. Especially if the car has been fine at other tracks.

Since damper rebound and sway bars have similar physics, it's not uncommon to compensate one for the other. For example, if you run stiffer front sway bar, you would back off rebound damping in the front a click or two. Or if you take off rear sway bar, adding a few clicks of rear rebound damping.

The turn you went wide twice in a row: first time you were on part throttle entering the corner and the second time you just dropped the brake pressure off a cliff completely at turn-in. Both killed/prevented proper rotation.

Also, dial in some toe out on your front suspension, it'll make the fender extractors work better. Especially under yaw(cornering).

On steady state cornering you hit 1.53G which means traction is there, but stiffness is ruining your corner entry and exit
@rolandotillit2867
@rolandotillit2867 13 күн бұрын
That's why you have good turn in, but bad mid corner understeer, the steady state aero from the wheels makes the rear wing work better than the floor.

Recently rewatched the hoonigans vid on the imsa gto 300ZX. The person who designed the car shared a very interesting concept of running stiff sway bars so you can run softer springs for more compliance between the tire and road. I wonder if that concept can help your car some🤔🤷🏾‍♂️ Also if all else fails TRAIL DEM BRAKES MUH BOI🗣️
@JackieDing86
@JackieDing86 13 күн бұрын
That is certainly one reason why we wanted to try the stiffer sway bars. If we can get the roll stiffness correct, soften the rear springs, then get more traction on exit!

Jackie, what do you think about the Nankangs vs the RE71RS? Especially accounting for different power levels. I have a 23 BRZ with similar aero but obviously way less power.

How’s the feeling compare with the ta Supra? I am thinking may be it’s the chassis or weight difference make the car hard to turn in!

I’m curious From watching. would you guys have found time in the 4the gear corners in 5th gear on corner exit take advantage of the torque and to prevent the excess oversteer?
@Trevor2458Italia
@Trevor2458Italia 11 күн бұрын
Your roll stiffness front and rear is far too stiff. Try running the softest rear bar you have access to and soften the front ARB to provide your desired entry balance. Your springs are ballpark, but if the car still understeers on entry and oversteers on exit, look at dropping your spring rates.

Did you say you adjusted the rear sway bar? Because the H&R sway bars for g8x are not adjustable. Maybe you meant the dampers.
@JackieDing86
@JackieDing86 13 күн бұрын
You are correct in that the H&R bars are non-adjustable from factory, I forgot to mention that we drilled an extra hole in the rear sway bar to have at least two holes on either side. In the video I mentioned half a click stiffer, which is one side on soft, the other side on stiff.
@sb.6606
@sb.6606 13 күн бұрын
Awesome. Thank you! I have the same bars and I’d like some adjustability. So I think that means I’ll be drilling some holes.

The seat is on a slider since Alex has to drive the car as well at times. Although bolting the seat down securely is probably the better way to go, the slider is still necessary for us to co-drive the car and push on with development.

@@JackieDing86 we have some endurance teams that have reinforced there sliders to reduce the flex. Figured you had to use them for Alex’s sake, but they certainly move a lot. Love the content though and obviously you guys put a ton of effort into your program! I always look forward to a new video!
