Portugal is desperate for a reason. Ask the 2 million Portuguese who live outside. When you learn the language, it's a very different Portugal. Living in a bubble and only speaking with English speaking people does not allow you the real Portuguese experience. Portuguese people will gladly take your money with a smile, but many of them don't care for foreigners and if you are a foreigner of color, even less.

I am working my way to a French Citizenship/Dual American, for people that know what they are doing and have learned the loopholes, there is absolutely no tax on offshore income earned from any country for EU tax residents (except of course low tax countries like UAE and such). In France, for example, there are 250 taxes and 400 tax loopholes that people use lol

You dont even need to buy a property in order to get Serbian residence permit. There is an option to incorporate so called entrepreneur i.e. small personal business company. The procedure is easy and straightforward and takes around 2-3 days. You got to pay a monthly flat tax (meaning no bookkeeping is needed) being something around 200-300 EUR per month. This amount covers your income tax (though only for income up to ~45k$ per year), health insurance and pension insurance. After five years you may apply for PR.

One thing you seem to conveniently skip over is the language test required for citizenship. In Malta and Ireland it is not a problem but Portugal and Serbia require a language exam before granting citizenship. Of course, residence permit and citizenship are two very different things. You can be a permanent resident of a country like Portugal for decades without acquiring citizenship.

@thehun1234
@thehun1234 Жыл бұрын
@@garrettmgunderson I am sure you are right. My problem with this and similar videos about obtaining residency and passport (citizenship) in different countries is that they do not inform the viewers about the very big difference between residency and citizenship. Until a few years ago Hungary had a very easy residency offer, you had to deposit 300000 Euro, prove that you have a property suitable to live in or signed a long-term (1 year) lease on one and you could get a permanent residency. You even got back your deposit after five years. Most Hungarians believed that this meant that all the different people using this scheme, mainly Chinese and Russian, would get Hungarian citizenship after the 5 years, despite the denial of the government. Because of this, they stopped the scheme. BTW, Hungarian citizenship requires 7 years of residency, a language and culture test. The culture knowledge includes history and literature at the level of primary (elementary) school. Most adult Hungarians would fail this test.
@thehun1234
@thehun1234 Жыл бұрын
@@ouss966 Exactly. In some countries, for example, Hungary and Australia, you do not even have to marry, enough if you live together. In some countries, marriage or civil partnership (living together) can lead to an easier way to obtain citizenship, in others the requirements are the same as for people without a local spouse.
@ouss966
@ouss966 Жыл бұрын
@@thehun1234 Yes, and the citizenship by marriage also can even be get by not going to Europe.. if an EU citizen want to marry you and somehow you both agreed to live in your country.. called getting citizenship abroad. Countries like France you can do it ( 5 years you apply through consulate unlike you live in France it's 4 years ) and I'm sure it's the same for the rest!

The benefits of EU citizenship aren’t what they used to be. The entire EU may be on its death bed depending on what happens in the Ukraine Russia war. Agree w/ you. Moving to Dubai and you’ll get a much better deal at a much lower cost. Getting an EU CBI should be treated as an added bonus if you have the capital that you are willing to risk losing 100% of the amount. For most billionaires, losing €280K to €1M is no big deal just to get an EU passport. But for most people, that’s their retirement savings that they can’t afford to lose.

That will permit residence providing the marriage is legal and legitimate (i.e. not just a way to citizenship) however if the non-EU citizen wants permanent residence (if the specific country permits that), they will still have to pass language, history, culture and integration tests. With the exception of programs like Malta or Portugal, there aren't really any ways to 'cheaply' get into Europe without a bunch of tests and learning.

Turkey is not a tax haven, matter of fact it has very high in direct taxes which makes it very expensive to live there. It doesn't have a stable economy and it is a defacto islamic dictatorship under Erdogan. Maybe that will change in future and Turkey will be secular stable nation again but this is the reality for now. How can you trust Erdogan and Turkish banks and park your money in Turkey? Turks themselves prefer crypto currencies over their own banks and currency! At least in UAE you are getting tax benefits and stable banking. I cannot see the reason why would anyone tries to get a Turkish citizenship. UNLESS they are coming from a worse place like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria etc.

@matthewnirenberg
@matthewnirenberg Жыл бұрын
@@ouss966 Horrible advice in most cases as most think that a sham marriage is a quick way to entry. That achieves nothing but a residence permit subject to stringent monitoring to ensure the legitimacy of the marriage (i.e. not just for a way to citizenship). Not all EU countries permit people to remain on residence permits forever if issued on the grounds of marriage. Being forced to citizenship will still require language, history, culture and integration tests. That is a heap of learning and work. Even if the marriage is genuine most people don't bother due to the effort involved and how anti-new citizens governments are. Its literally easier to just spend some time there (long stay visa as spouse of an EU citizen) and then live abroad the rest of the time.
