Why do people keep thinking Escanor died unnecessarily🙄. Let’s get this straight Escanor has had Sunshine from at least when he was 10 years old and he died in his 40s. He has used Sunshine every single day for the past 40 YEARS. His body couldn’t take it anymore. When Mael returned Sunshine to Escanor he warned him that he would die. Escanor did not have a lot of life force left even if he didn’t take Sunshine back. So he chose to die a HERO and die for his friends. Not to end up in some hospital bed and pass away “peacefully”. You guys should rather be commending him for beating up the Demon King and helping Zeldris to take back control

Not to mention it is not like Merlin and the others didn't do anything to help prolong Escanor's life. That's literally the whole point of Rhitta -- to absorb and store excess power from sunshine. Yes, it is technically a weapon, but it could just as easily have been a temporary stopgap for Escanor as a whole.
