I think the Tamara Stahl is very fine and her guitar is also nice . The Mario Gropp seems so precise I guess is the word , the intonation is spot on . Glad you had a great vacation , you deserved it .

I really enjoy the natural and more intimate sound of Stefan Nitchke and Mario Gropp, may not be suitable for concert guitarist but they are perfect for personal enjoyment. Connor and Perry are great as usual. ❤

The Jellinghaus made in China Torres FE17 sounded like a really fun guitar, beautiful Bass too. I liked Perry's guitar, and also Stahl's guitar. That Stahl: she's a sweetie. I talked to her on the phone years ago when she still worked for Siccas and she was exceptionally polite and helpful. This is the second or third guitar I hear from her, they all sound very nice. Connor is loud and beautiful? Loud, totally. Beautiful, not so much. Camps? Ehh not at all my thing. It's probably nobodies thing. Jellinghaus or Altamira are both better for similar money. Gropp, very nice intonation. Nitschke gets it. He knows how a beautiful guitar should sound. Nitschke easily takes first. Perry, Jellinghaus and Tam Stahl share a close second with their lovely guitars. Siccas steals the whole KZbin show with yet another excellent weekly guitar session.

That vibrato he does at 12:48 is amazing!! Never heard it done like that before the guitar literally sounds fretless !

Have to agree with your comments about Knobloch strings. My Picado guitar came with Knobloch carbon CX 500 strings and sounded wonderful. Since then, I've experimented with various brands and types, and none of them come close to the sound it produces with Knobloch Carbons.

The first three guitars illustrate the sound I really like when played in the vicinity of the 12th fret. For me, this is a quality I would want and expect in a very high build. The only problem I have is that it is very hard to define in terms that I could explain to someone else and expect them to agree with clear understanding and concurrence. Tamera Stahl's build was super nice! Her creative skills and ideas should carry her a long way. I am looking forward to seeing and hearing what she produces next. The Gropp looked like it had a split saddle. Could you cover the advantage of that extra effort the next time an instrument shows up similarly set-up?

Tamara Stahl and Mario Gropp give the best sound for me. Btw, you should give infos about the bracing and the structure of the guitar : traditionnal, double top, lattice (carbon or not) ..... . You do it for some guitars, but not always. It's a very important info, yet. In your videos as on your site, where this info isn't even displayed.

I liked the last guitar best due to its beautiful, clear, and long sustaining treble stings. It has the kind of open sound I prefer, as it produces a lively, dynamic, and lyrical sound. I don't particularly care for the "old guitar" look. Most of the other guitars had treble strings that sounded very smooth, but to the point that they sounded lifeless, and more like a Harp than a Guitar. All the guitars are obviously good, and in different hands each will respond differently and be more suitable to that players style.

To answer what is undoubtedly the top question on everyone's mind: mahogany (English) = Mahagoni (German). Interesting that the vowels move around like that.

Does anyone have the specific tensions per string of the knoblochs? I'd like to try them but only if the bass strings doesn't have a higher tension than the savarez Crystal Corum basses.
@niceguitar6144

You should also strongly consider the precise thickness of each string, and whether the bass strings are wound clockwise, or counterclockwise, it affects the sound and playability greatly hahahahaha

Can you please let me know why you never ever give us listeners a prize tag in your presentations? These guitars do of course all sound incredibly impressive but without the most relevant information the instruments are all of no interest for me since I have to consider them non affordable.
@Navportxl
@Navportxl 9 ай бұрын
The luthiers price is always rising ,not only with inflation ( cost of obtaining CITES wood included) but also with their abilities to produce a better guitar and the recognition from the guitar community. May not be in the best interest of a luthier that is in the process of a price hike. Also Julian is doing the luthier a favour by directing the viewers to their guitar web site

Well actually I did do my research and you are correct there is manzanita in California, technically it’s an un-incorporated area .. and though he didn’t say what state he was in he did say it was coastal, and manzanita, California is not a coastal town .. Manzanita , Oregon is a coastal town.. anyway my original point still stands.

The tone variation? The professorial type of guitarists that are familiar with every string measurement, or the smallest guitar nuance are just insufferable. Her guitar is fine.
