@@jamieturley7519 oh really? original is abt 3:53 if ur just going to count the song, 1/8 of that is abt 30 seconds, 3:53 - 30 is 3:23 seconds, which is abt the length of this cover (not exact, the cover is 3:25, which is pretty close considering I rounded off a lot). So the op is right

Western Musicians trying irregular meters usually comes off unsettling. E.g. 7/8 rhytm is very common in Balkans, but it's played most often as 3-2-2, or rarer 2-2-3. Western KZbinrs almost always play it as 4-3 which sounds horribly unnatural to me.

The unnatural time signature for this song is actually quite natural. The duh, duhDuh, duh duh duh duhhhh is naturally a 7/4 pattern that just has the last note sustained for the 8th beat; making it as 2 bars of 4/4. What they did here was simply turn that last note from a half to a quarter so that it immediately repeats. Where it gets tricky is that the lyrics are still sung in 4/4 time so the last note of lyric hits at the first beat of the next bar. They cover it by then having a 6 beat rest before starting the next line. It’s all counting in the end.

So the 7th beat feels like a syncope/syncopation (actually I guess it not just feels like one, it may is a syncopation), because the song and lyrics will move on but one beat earlier than in the original 4/4 rhythm. I hope I was able to translate my thoughts into english, but I guess it's quite that what I wanted to express :D :)
