Brought back a lot of great memories - I learned to fish on Stair Dam and Rohallion lochs. Thanks - really interesting to see it again! When I fished there 35 years ago, we always fished the top of the loch last thing as the fish moved up at last light - some memorable surface fishing.

Thanks for watching, we really enjoyed it up there lots of fly life to keep them up on the top. Interesting you say they moved up into the shallows, was there always an issue with weed there, we have it cut twice a year now.

@@scottishoutdoorlife Yes, the top was weedy back then too. Do you also have Rohallion loch?
@scottishoutdoorlife2 жыл бұрын
Yes but we we normally go to stair, the weed and midges seem to be worse on Rohallion.

Hi Mike yes it's got a syndicate on it. A great wee loch, there's two we have access to with the syndicate, the one you saw is the biggest. Not the biggest trout in it but great fun.

I've just started watching you guys and I got to say it nice to see you out with ur boy. My dad taught me from a young age and I'm now 30yo also me and my dad started taking my son who is 7yo to the trout fisheries. But he is still a bit wee for the salmon fishing on the Cargill beat. Keep it up great videos. Tight lines 🎣

Hi David thanks for watching, great to hear your taking your boy out, my dad fishes a lot too, twice the three of us have had salmon off the same beat on the same day. Special memories indeed. Tight lines for the rest of the season. 👍

Excellent . Staying in Birnam next week. Is the loch still open and bookable ?
@scottishoutdoorlife2 жыл бұрын
Hi Graham thanks for watching, it's actually an estate loch which we are a syndicate member on so isn't bookable to the general public however there are lots of Fisheries in the area which will be open. Frandy, Roscobie and Ledyatt will be available and relatively close by. Hope this helps. 👍

@@scottishoutdoorlife Thx mate . Think I know the one . Tbh I’ve tried in the past to get a permit for the Tay but the club that runs it never answers email requests and local outlets they suggest don’t sell the permits anymore . Pal has a lodge at Erigmore so would hope to join, hopefully next year .

Try the wee shop in Birnam or the Dunkeld and Birnam club website I think they still supply them. Obviously it would only be for grayling now. Enjoy your trip 👍

@@scottishoutdoorlife Tried that and never got anywhere and also tried the local tackle shop with no success.
