JK Rowling didn't write the Cursed Child. She approved it, but she didn't write it, so I don't count it as canon at all, purely because I think everyone written in it was OOC. I really don't think Ced had a bad bone in his body! I've written a Cedric survival AU where he became a muggle nurse and a certified Healer.

I so agree with you. That's bullshit when I heard this! Cedric and Harry were tied (I think) in the last tournament. They both grabbed the cup at the same time and both won. So how could he have become a death eater if he would have not won the tournament??? Also if Harry actually did grab the cup on his own, Cedric would have survived and would have been grateful for not grabbing the cup with Harry because he could've died. So I don't understand how he would've become a death eater if he was still alive??? I read the cursed child as well and I can understand why he did become a death eater but at the same time not really since he was a good guy and I can't really see him turning evil because of some dumb shit like that?

The Cursed Child is a travesty. I don't even consider it canon because all the recurring characters we grew to love are suddenly so unrecognizable. And I agree...it's completely out of character for Cedric to turn to the dark just because he was "humiliated." The HP series showed him as such a humble, fair-minded, mature, and levelheaded person. He's so honorable that he called a for a rematch when Harry fainted from the Dementors during Quidditch. He displayed the same principle when he told Harry to take the Triwizard Cup. Cedric just doesn't have that level of hubris or pettiness that can be manipulated into going that direction.

Cedric was never going to be evil just because he lived. The only reason that even happened, was because Albus and Scorpius messed with time and embarrassed him. If he had merely not been sent to the graveyard with Harry, he would have lived, without turning dark.

Kendra Brown I honestly hate when this argument is used. Think about the circumstances surrounding this moment. This isn't a 'Cedric trips in front of people and gets made fun of by some students for it' scenario. This is the TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT. This is an extremely important event in wizarding history, in which the press is watching and recording for all the wizarding world to know about. Now remember Rita Skeeter and her penchant for twisting stories, and she has many who believe her, if you recall poor Hermione, who thanks to Rita, had hoardes of hate mail, one which even sent her to the hospital wing due to giving her massive burns, and even had Molly Weasley believing the lies for a while. Cedric is not just being embarrased in front of a few people, he's being humiliated in front of SEVERAL different schools, AND its being recorded and photosnapped in the papers that everyone reads. Cedric gets utterly humiliated, its blown up by Skeeter and the rest of the press, he's already a Hufflepuff and that house gets enough shit for little reason as it is for being "a bunch of duffers", much less the Hufflepuff champ getting that kind of negative press. This press is something that is recorded in HISTORY, which means this will go down as a humiliating moment people will continue to look back on and laugh. And given how almost arrogantly proud Amos Diggory showed himself to be of his son, I can imagine him feeling second hand embarrassment for his son and having it show far too blatantly to Cedric that he'd know he is pitied in his dads eyes. With all of this in mind, it is not suprsing that a 17 year old student, who has been humiliated and made a laughingstock before the wizarding world, would find themselves vulnerable to a man who preys on the vulnerable anyway. Cedric turning dark actually can make sense when you think about it. One just has to look at all the factors involved surrounding the embarrasnent, not just the fact that he got embarrased in itself.

Fascinating that you say this. I have done the sorting tests many times. And I keep getting hufflepuff. I was surprised, as I tend to have a lot of slytherin traits. But when you say that there is a connection with food and hufflepuffs. For me that makes so much sense. For the past three years, I have become obsessed with baking. In that time, I went from baking nothing to baking well over 50 different desserts. I don't eat desserts, as I am allergic to eggs. But I love the process of taking many single ingredients and putting together something sweet and delicous.
