Speaking of Dolly, if you have a kid, you absolutely need to sign them up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. She started it to send free books to kids to encourage reading. Both of our kids used it, and they loved it when a new book showed up. That lady is a saint.

I have a friend whose daughter was battling a childhood illness at Vanderbilt. His wife and daughter were in a waiting room to get a procedure done when who walks in but Miss Dolly. Dolly sat down and just had a talk with his daughter about what was going on in her treatment and all kind of other things. After a while, Dolly said “Well, honey, I have to go, but I’ll keep you in my prayers.” Five minutes later his wife was thinking “Did that really just happen?”

Many many years ago when my Memaw and Pawpaw were moving, there was a stack of cinder blocks that had obviously been there for a while. My Pawpaw made sure we knew those needed to be loaded, my then wife asked my Pawpaw what he needed them for at his new house, his reply was "so I can stack em up there just like they are here." My favorite Dolly move is that Dollywood might seem like an ego thing at first glance, but it's actually there to provide jobs in an area that doesn't have a lot. And it provides 100% tuition coverage. That woman's the real deal. (She played a concert where I live when I was a kid, and my step-dad won a local radio contest for a backstage meet-and-greet with her. 2:51 I grew up in Massachusetts, and later moved to Texas. One of the first places I went was Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor. I knew from the moment I walked in that it was going to be good - the seating arrangements were minimalist, and on the right hand wall sat hundreds of business cards, many of them discolored beyond recognition through the decades of smoke. This was a place that had been doing it for a long time, and must have focused purely on the food. We got the brisket, naturally. I took my first bite, and tasted it. Savored it. I sat there for a minute, maybe longer. I then turned to my brother and said "I understand why southerners are more religious."

Love it! Honestly, i have cinder blocks for the Dog Kennel so they don't try to tunnel out or to hood down the tarp/wood in the winter.
@JoeXTheXJuggalo17 ай бұрын
Ever since i could remember there was this big pile of cinder blocks stack on the edge of the yard. So it had to be sitting minimum 40 years. I forgot where my dad said it came from but it was just there. Than out of nowhere about 10 or so years ago my dad needed some money and somebody came down to the house and bought like over half of them. Due to the pile behind on the edge of the yard near the woods and after the brick pile was disturbed a tree started to grow in the holes of obe of the cinder blocks.

There are many sayings about Atlanta. Such as "You can't get to Heaven or Hell without changing planes in Atlanta first." The problem is pretty much every major highway that runs from the Midwest toward Florida or from Texas to the East Coast all converge in Atlanta. Think of it like the Hub of a Hub and Spoke road system that covers half the country.

I grew up in a household/family of gamecock fans, and was a fan until I set foot on Clemson's campus for orientation. Likewise never heard the nickname, but I'm pretty sure in the early days of Facebook, Clemson students started a group about how the mascot looks like he just smoked crack.

Have you ever seen in movies or whatnot where the villain always seems to be in shadows like there is a dark mist surrounding them even in broad daylight? I don't need CGI to get that effect. I just need to go out to my garden in the evening and forget to spray myself down in deet. Within moments, I will be surround by a thick dark cloud of mosquitos.

Talking about the mosquitoes, they love me. My son has a hate relationship with deer flies. They will find him but they don't bother me.

I remember how I got my cinderblocks; but to be fair I'm young so the memory only 5 years ago wasn't too far off. My neighbor had a cousin who was tearing down a condemned mobile home and he got some of the cinderblocks from under it just to build a retaining wall; had some left over and voila: New fire pit!
