Not just driving, directions too. When tourists ask for directions they want number of blocks in a cardinal direction with either left/right turns. What they get is five blocks towards the river and it's on this side across from this.

True story. I got my first driver’s license in the south after running a stop sign during the driver’s test. @@zeusdarkgod7727 I was so scared of the parallel parking that I had practiced hundreds of times at home with two trash barrels for cones. Apparently I got too good at it because the examiner said I could pull away before I'd quite finished the parallel. And I couldn't do that; I had to finish. I got a mark down for not doing what he said. Oh my. Well, the good news was that I only had to drive around the block for the rest of the test--all left turns. I passed. When I was in high school on my way to school, the stoplight at one intersection was set so that the westbound lane go green first and then the eastbound one like 20-30 seconds after it (we had some construction going on, so it was to mitigate some traffic buildup). Matt certainly has his Southern religious affiliations down pat too. I grew up a member of the Church of Christ and we had a Pentecostal Church right next door. @@06capoeirista I just remember as a young kid walking out of the typical staid Church of Christ Sunday service and hearing the ruckus coming from the Pentecostal church across the street. It sounded more fun for sure. Then I was in military school for a few years. They didn’t care which church you went to, but you were going to church (or temple, as we had a couple of Jewish boys who got lost in Tennessee somehow. But that’s another story) Anyway, I went on a tour of the local churches with different fellow students. The Assembly of God services were certainly eye opening. I went to everything from a Catholic, Episcopal, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Assembly of God, and took some guys to my Church of Christ. Mostly went to the closest Church of Christ but did go to the Catholic Church some since they had a 8:30am service and we could be done early and have the rest of Sunday to goof off. I will say that the experience actually solidified my concurrence with what I had been taught growing up in the Church of Christ. I guess those Bible study classes worked.

From the drivers around here, a Stop sign means the driver with the right of way stops first to wave you on through the intersection because it's the neighborly thing to do. Along with oncoming traffic stops to let you make a left turn and a 4-Way Stop means you'll be stuck there all day waiting politely for the other person to go first.

In Athens, GA, there is an intersection whereupon the center lane opposite one side had to be marked not with "center lane is for turn only", not with "do not enter", but simply with a sign that says *"NO"* because anything else was too confusing. Then the mom’s go and sit in the parking area by the docks and meditate until they are off again to pick their precious child up for the next thing on the calendar… I went there - trust me… Charlie’s been there when the mom’s have turned into dates for their hubbies for his show. 😂😂😂😅😊 Love Charlie sadly too young

This seems more like it should be on Charlie’s channel about the Midwest, because it has nothing to do with southerners. Because in the south, if we catch you using the center turn lane to pass, we know we can cause a wreck and blame it on the person who was breaking the law, so we all cut them off and slam the brakes. In the south, we are known for handling the people who won’t follow the rules ourselves, without waiting for the cops.

I grew up in Maine....moved to NC in my 30s...people down here are truly scary. 4 lane road in town...they think the left lane is for passing. Tailgating...they think they are on a nascar circuit. 4 way stop...they absolutely don't know who has the right of way. The Tailgating is the worst, because it's honestly the most dangerous...it makes any emergency stop you need to make a real risk of being rear ended. It matters not how old, nor how large their vehicle is...they seem to believe that their brakes and reflexes are race-car level. I've seen as many as 6 vehicles in a row, all less than 20' apart on a narrow 2 lane road with bends and entering traffic while going 50mph. And they don't like being behind a car with a 40' gap ahead of it, even if both are traveling the same speed, they will pass, regardless of the center road markings and then tailgate the vehicle in front of you...only to end up at a stop sign or light with you right behind them.

As a newcomer to the South 52 years ago my Southern husband and I were driving through Georgia in the rain on a busy highway. My husband asked me to roll my window down and tell the driver beside us his gas cap was off and rain was getting in. I pointed and pointed trying to indicate the problem. A big ol' Georgia cop pulled us over and asked me if I was "shootin' that guy a bird". I had no idea what he was talking about and in my non American accent asked him why he thought I would shoot a bird. He looked at me puzzled and then red faced told my husband to tell me what it meant. After my husband tried to explain it to me the blushing cop just said, " Don't ever do it again." and walked away.....soaking wet from the rain.

She said the written could have up to 5 truck questions, then told me I could get 5 out of 20 questions wrong and still pass, and I could still take the driving part in my car. So...I could get all 5 truck questions wrong and still get a truck driver's license??? Sign me up. Fortunately, they fixed that in 1992 and Mickey Mouse got me my training and a real CDL. Oh, and with the sugar sand in FL on the shoulder, Soft Shoulder means you're getting stuck up to your axles. Best not to pull off the road there. LOL
