there isnt another band out there that can hit as many rocking melodies as these guys, I been a fan for many years, saw them once, blew me away, with metal roots, these guys got skills!!

Sevendust is by far one of my underrated bands around. Always have been. They do what they do, and do it well even with their 'evolution' as a band. Hard to rate their albums, they all are so good, but this was a solid solid album. And their live shows hit hard! Did meet and greet month ago with them, awesome guys. Already got tickets again for their next show next month when they come back through my area.

I enjoyed it, but not enough to put it on my everyday playlist. I remember listening to Sevendust in high school, but I honestly don't remember enough to compare their old to new stuff.

It is metal it's just an evolved form of it.

Great review. We gotta give 7D heavy credit. Looking at their diverse discography, they have done it all from super heavy like Alpha, and Platinum hit like Animosity and cool acoustic. Im proud of 7D. It's true this album not heavy, but the heavy element are still there. We can still headbang to each track (even you headbang to this song..lol). 7D has created their own genre and I'm grateful that these guys don't sell out & become mainstream. They just stick to their root sound, original fomula. So happy morgan still screaming. 😁

I think when a band is in their earlier days/stages, they inherently sound more raw, they push more, but the further they progress, the more their sound starts to mature, and time passes, things change… suddenly they don’t sound so raw, and you’ve heard heavier stuff in the passing time, gone deeper with it kinda thing… It’s still great music :)

That can def be true. But, some of their best albums (to me) weren’t raw in the slightest. Very well recorded and sounding. Very well put together. They were just a lot more creative with their riffs. Even on the songs that weren’t too heavy, the riffs were just a bit more….well, creative. Feels like there was more put into it. The last stuff I’ve been hearing from them just feels very vanilla compared to what I know they can do. But again, things change…attitudes change…that want and need to play brutal or complicated riffs starts to fade. I feel that with myself as well. I couldn’t come close to playing the stuff I even wrote myself, a decade ago. Lol. So I get it. Just hurts when it was a long time favorite band of yours, and you just don’t enjoy them anymore. That’s what sucks about it for me. Def still good music…just not MY type of good music, that I would ever put on. I have nothing but love for those guys. As long as they’re happy with what they do, then I’m super happy for them.

@@musikbyjh Ohhh, let me clarify then dude, I meant raw as in their physical and mental output, same with any band, like they ain’t holding back 😂 The joys of words having more than one meaning lmao! 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’m the same with Dream Theater these days dude. It’s just not the same. Doesn’t have that same… kick to it lmao! I see where you’re coming from dude 🙈

"Sick Mouth" is one of my new Sevendust favorites. I also like, "Holy Water" and "Fence". Those ones are def the closest to the old(er) Sevendust. Took quite a few listens to the new album to parse out the favorites. At first, I was really critical of the album, and will still say that most of the tracks don't quite land for me. Probably their weakest album, honestly, which still isn't really trashing it. "Bad" for Sevendust is "good" for most other bands. lol Not nearly as good as 2020's Blood & Stone (I think that's one of their best, and a highly underrated album; was hoping for more of the same). But those few songs are in regular rotation now. I recommend you check 'em out. The reactors that check out Sevendust are so few, that it's almost a crime. It's like it's only the people who know about them already. Cray cray, I say. Criminally underrated talents.
