I still enjoy cb radio. I live in an area where it’s still fairly active. My friends and I use em on hunting and fishing trips to bs back & forth. Still great for highway travel too!

Yeah thanks for the review. I'm a big big Cobra guy have been for 30 years. I recently purchased this and put it in my vehicle as a mobile. I can say the weak point on this radio would be the microphone. I had an Old road devil microphone and it helps out a lot with the audio. I bought it based on it has echo and TalkBack which I really like and weather and FM those are my buying points on this unit.

The echo makes me believe you can have a good ol' 11 meter QSO from your bathroom. Cool rig!

This radio is pretty good for the price there’s also a jumper on the the inside that opens up the 10 and 12 meters and a rf power mode high to higher power

The problem is most newer vehicles have few locations for a transceiver especially one as large as this one.

I installed this radio one of my Crown Vic Interceptor. I like the fact that it came with everything that I was looking for echo TalkBack and weather. And it fit in a Cobra 29 bracket plus it was a little bit shorter. I will say that it probably won't be very long before Cobra comes out weather radio set up like this with maybe a little extra that would be nice.

Nice radio . Salty Walt has that one as well. I am in NY and have gotten skip from UK on FM in their CB band. They started FM only in 1981 . now have all modes and 2 bands of 40 CH.

@@SevenFortyOne I am retiring after March next year. We are supposed to have fiber broadband internet before the end of the year so I am looking forward to getting back into creating KZbin content. How did splitting up your channels work out for you? I think I will concentrate on mechanical, smart home and comms content. Not sure I want to have more than one channel.

I haven't had a SSB CB for a long time, if it didn't have FM and did have SSB it would be a good standard 27Mhz CB for use in VK.

I think the stock mic is good enough...but you can add any mic that is compatible...check the manual for details

It sounds like a nice radio, but I do wonder why some of these that come out with FM mode don't bother with SSB and in the case of the Bearcat 980, vice versa. It looks like the President George FCC is the only (legal) CB radio that covers all three modes and I don't really understand why.

Cost..ssb circuitry is expensive and .not everyone needs or wants it. In the case of the 980 it's just an old model that still sells well so uniden hasn't bothered to redesign it to add FM even though that circuitry is relatively cheap.

Still like my newish Cobra 25 LTD in my shack. Smaller chassis if I decide to mobile mount it.

Range is highly dependent on your antenna. Most of the CBs on the market today are pretty decent performers so it's hard to recommend a single option.

Radio's are so cool, but most without Upper and Lower side band.
