the legs and the bouncies and the ... whatever Mingyu was doing w/ the shimmyshimmy vibes... and the arm guitar and everyyyything. The most tender sincere emotional gratitude love song and then the most cutiest precious adorable song that has the greatest melodies and instrumental like. These two songs. LOVE. I think of Oh My as being my "Carat Song" because it was one of the songs that really hooked me in their Killing Voice and got me going to deep dive their discography and the rest was history honestly. Also Thanks is sooo stunningly gorgeous and they brought it back to the Follow tour so there are recent live performances of this masterpiece which is so incredible.

You heard Thanks in the guide. This choreography was specifically made so even the people far back up there can see and they use sign language and imagery a lot. The fingers locked where they just stand still is their promise to never change. According to the lyrics. Thanks for doing Heartwarming Seventeen and Playful Seventeen in one video. 1 fun fact i remember from thanks is that Hoshi helped woozi with the lyrics through his dance. He danced to woozi what he wanted to express through the song and I think woozi made beautiful words out of Hoshi's interpretation. Idk if it makes sense but they said since hoshi specializes more in dancing, he expresses what he wanted to put in the song through his dance and woozi actually gets/understand what he's trying to say

It's especially sweet that they used "Thanks" 고맙다 Gomapta since this form of the word is both a verb (to be thankful) and casual speech that you would use with your close friends. So they're being intimate like close friends when they say "thanks" to Carats.

If you notice, SVT really embrace their "self-producing" concept so references to the idea that they do everything themselves recur quite a bit through their contents. For example, "Thanks" MV shows them writing the song, recording themselves, and practicing/choreographing their dance "Clap" MV is basically them running a "Specialized Videotape Technology (SVT)" company that came up with MV ideas/sets for the unit songs of "Change Up", "Trauma", "Pinwheel", "Lilili Yabbay", and editing the videos too. "Clap" dance practice is them setting up everything and directing their own practice. "Pretty U" MV is them running around the city putting up posters to promote themselves/their party. They direct, shot, and edit some of their own MV's for B-sides such as Mingyu's "Snap Shoot" and Wonwoo's "Holiday" There are many more examples I'm sure...

2018, you're entering my Carat era now lol Thanks is just amazing, the choreo is pure art and the lyrics are like a letter to Carats and to themselves. The mv going along with the album title Director's Cut is meant to kind of show the behind the scenes process, practicing in the studios, getting makeup done for the stage and things like that. Thanks is one of my favorite kpop songs and it's the reason i decided to stan svt after casually listening for abt a year and trying to rmb everybody's names And oh my is what I consider my first comeback as a Carat. Ah, this era of Seventeen is so special to me because this is when I got into them. This video made me a little emo thinking about that lol. Also, absolutely no pressure but, I highly recommend not skipping Call Call Call! It's a great song and my personal second favourite Japanese song of theirs! Ahhhhh.. THANKS is one of my favorite seventeen title tracks along with don't wanna cry. The production is insane and I love the anti drop, the acoustic is beautiful. And don't even get me started on the choreo... like they set the standard with THANKS, PERIOD. Oh my is so cute 🥰 I love how playful and bright this song is and was melting while watching the MV haha the duality from these guys it's just seamless, they can really do any concept. Thank you for the reaction! The first half showed me again why I love Seventeen. Thanks really showcases there love and gratitude for Carats. It was not their first or last song about this topic, but it is every time really emotional. And Oh My! just shows again that Seventeen are one of the best bands with cute concepts. It reminded me to listen to My My again. Another song, that you will probably encounter in 2020 that has the same vibes and similar cutsey (in my opinion even cuter than Oh My) choreo. As a long time Carat, Thanks is my most favorite SVT song. Something about it just hits different - the song, the lyrics, the choreo, the way they always perform it with such sincerity. I can be anywhere, doing anything and hear the opening chords and just instantly get hit with such an emotional, nostalgic feeling. I remember playing it on loop endlessly when it dropped and it brings back so many memories from 2018. For a long time, it also had my favorite SVT lyric - Wonwoo's "너의 내일이 되고 싶어서 오늘을 살아왔어" which translates to 'I wanted to be your tomorrow so I lived through today'. everyone's beat me to the important contexts so here's some fun facts about the fanchants for these songs that i love 🥺🥺 "thanks" is the origin of the "thirteen names in 5 seconds" fanchant just before the song ends, and in "oh my!" when mingyu sings "mianhae" (i'm sorry), carats are supposed to shout "saranghae" (i love you) to drown it out! 😭 you might have noticed that the choreo for "thanks" is different in the mv than in the choreography video; when filming the mv, the choreo hadn't been finalized yet! (this happened again recently with the choreo for "god of music" not being completely finalized by the time they had to go to budapest to film the mv, and so some parts outside the chorus were different)

Thank you for another awesome Seventeen reaction! Thanks is my all time favorite song from them and it always gets me choked up. My dream is to hopefully be able to see it live one day. Just a bit of background for it. The album that it is on is named Director's Cut and is their first "Special" album. The album and mv served as a bit of a way to look into the behind the scenes of Seventeen as a self-made group. It only has 3 b-sides and I truly cannot recommend checking them out enough. Oh My! was the title track for their mini album You Make My Day which goes hand in hand with their next mini album at the start of 2019, You Made My Dawn. Even the physical albums go together and have the same packaging! Together they are referred to together as YMMD. I'm not sure if you were already planning on it but when you get to You Made My Dawn's title track Home I recommend that you also check out the track Getting Closer. It served as an unofficial prerelease of sorts and even has an mv and a dance practice. I don't want to spoil anything but Getting Closer was a huge surprise for Carats at the time both in terms of sound and concept. Thank you guys again for a great video!
