Tommy gives me chills every time I hear his voice soar during the chorus. His voice is amazing. :)

Fantastic Band. After the title track, which I've listened to so many times I have it pretty well memorized, this is my favorite song from The Great Escape. With so many prog metal bands going downhill recently (eg Circus Maximus, Andromeda, Dream Theater). It's nice to see that these guys just keep getting better.

Hah, so I thought I heard some similarities between Angelmaker and the song "Angel of Music" from the Phantom of the Opera musical. So I googled "Tommy Karevik" and "Phantom" together, and found this: "At the age of 12 my mother took me to see 'The Phantom Of The Opera' and I remember being totally floored by the music, the voices and the ambiance... I guess you could say that this is where it all started..."
@AndyMcKeeFanForLife12 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Jorn Lande is in a class of his own. Having said that, Tommy Karevik is up there as far as one of the most talented vocalists in metal today.

The "airiness" is intentional, an artistic choice by the band :)

Be patient with it, listen the songs over and over, you'll discover new details every time. Especially with The Great Escape... Best metal song I've ever heard. From 20:30 and onwards is really epic

Saw kamelot a month ago fucking amazing I loved khan but his voice declined dramatically..hopefully next kamelot cd tommy can unleash a bit more...still excited for next sw album and their full performance of mercy falls :D
@dreamsofelegance11 жыл бұрын
Tommy Karevik does NOT try to sound like Khan. If you have a problem with Kamelot's sound, take it up with Youngblood. After all, he writes most of the music. I've been a fan of Kamelot's since 1996 and Roy Khan did not make Kamelot. Granted, he was my favorite vocalist... but Tommy's doing a great job as vocalist for the band. If you have a problem with them replacing Khan, take it up with Khan because his decision. Don't dump your negativity on the next vocalist. Khan was amazing but he left.
@necroplastful6 жыл бұрын
Roy Khan was what made Kamelot great and their success is mostly due to his incredible performance on albums like Karma. But Tommys inclusion brought nothing new, their music still sounds like ass. The only thing redeemable about Kamelot today is ironically Tommy who carries this band... They sound so fucking washed up its insane.
@solonaviavenger11 жыл бұрын
He is not Khan....but Khan is not there anymore. Kamelot had to do something. They were able to land this amazing vocalist. They have to work with what they have ya know?

This is what i was thinking since i hear this guy. This band is excellent for his voice, but i hate to listen him trying to be like Khan in Kamelot, he doesn't fit the band at all, there's some magic that Khan put in every song. Fans of Karevik could say w/e they want, but that's the truth, a true fan will accept it. This genre suits him better for his voice; in fact i'm like "wow" hearing this song, it's really damn good.
