The scenes with Petey switching between reality and the severed floor are incredible. So seamless you kinda feel like Petey does.

Having seen all the episodes available so far (including S2 E3 which dropped today), I'd say pay attention to EVERYTHING. This is one of the most tightly written shows I've ever seen. But it's even more so as a visual experience. Even "throwaway" scenes which we often discard as just establishing shots have some meaning attached to them. It seems like the cinematography is richly symbolic. Practically every sequence is loaded with visual clues to the central mystery. Composition, color and lighting are all saying something. And deception is ever present. I've never - in 60 years of living - seen anything like this show. At least on TV.

You wouldn't see a bunch of other people and public tours in the Perpetuity Wing because everything they see is on the severed floor so only those would be seen but they're purposefully kept apart and they wouldn't schedule them to go there at the same time.

Ahhh ok. That makes sense.

4:50 What Petey meant by that is that we organise our memories by the perception of time and sequence of events, but the two personages have a different frame of reference in time. For Petey’s innie, his first memory occurred when outie Petey was already a full grown man. It’s like when two completely separate personages are stitched together, their memories got reshuffled and the sequence of events got reorganised and that’s what he meant with the relativity.

Ahh ok I get it. It sounds so insane when you describe it like that.

I saw someone else clarify that where Mark lives isn't "Lumon housing" as in they built and/or own the neighbourhood (because then Mrs. Selvig would also have to be a Lumon employee and her story is that she owns a shop). They just subsidize Mark's rent. But ALSO... did you notice the names of the Eagan CEOs we saw in this episode? Baird Eagan was CEO from 1959 to 1976. Mark and Mrs. Selvig live in Baird Creek. The 6th CEO was Philip "Pip" Eagan. The VIP card that Lumon gave to Mark in episode 1 was to Pip's Bar & Grille.

Apparently Lumon have their fingers in pretty much every types of business. They may build houses for everybody, not just their own employees.

They basically own everything 😂

Entirely unrelated, but with your focus on how old Lumon was, I just wanted to share that Nintendo has been around since 1889 (not a typo). If I remember correctly, they said in the first episode that Lumon started by making medicinal salves and such. Nintendo’s original product was playing cards, for the record. (Again, super off-topic, other than the real and fictional companies both being around since the 1880’s.)

Amazing to see what some of these big corporations first starting selling in their infancy. Apparently Nokia started off selling paper.
