Milena's reaction at 13:40 is one of the greatest things I've ever seen 🤣 Actually, the entire reaction is great. You two losing your minds was hilarious. This episode is full of great moments, but one of my favorites that I expected to hit harder for you two was Helly's apology. To bring that little thing back after several episodes was so unexpectedly satisfying.

@logans8286Ай бұрын
My bold prediction is that we only truly know the exact moment when Mark S switched back to his outtie self. And it’s just implied that the last we saw of Helly and Irving is when they switched back too. But I think we might get a few more unexpected moments with the other innies still on the outside, especially with Irving and Bert. But we’ll see soon enough.

@lockekappa500 first, he already knew by that point that they found his niece so it wouldn't make sense for him to go so intensively later on screaming that she's alive. Second, he won't know why he's holding the picture, but his sister will see he has the picture of a supposedly dead person while he screams with all in him that she's alive. Irving must have already been a Lumon employee before he got severed. That would explain his residual memories of the testing floor, as well as his posession of all that employee information.
@MH902 ай бұрын
I always wondered if people could functionally be 'reset' down in the testing floor, and just the same as people hold subconscious memories between severance, if he could've retained some memory of it.
@bryanburns4874Ай бұрын
@@MH90they’ve clearly been onto Lumon before, and then get sent down to the testing floor and potentially get their memories reset. Irving is also drinking coffee to purposely sleep-deprive himself so that he falls asleep at work and his memories bleed through, since sleep is heavily involved in the consolidation of memory!! Lumon might also know this and that’s why they get so pissed at the innies when they fall asleep. it’s possible Irving may have seen the testing room elevator as an outie, but that doesn’t explain why he would be painting it over and over again like a madman. I think he’s trying to gain memories from the inside in an attempt to thwart Lumon, also explaining why he has newspaper articles talking about how Lumon needs to be held accountable. he’s clearly not a fan so why would he even choose to work for them in the first place? like let’s say Irving has been sent down to testing 3 times, well he forgets everything else (there’s a command in the security room suspiciously called “Clean Slate”) but maybe since he sees that hallway every single time, that might be the one traumatic memory he’s able to kinda retain? basically outie Irving can only remember that black hallway, and innie Irving can only remember the black paint he’s using to try to recreate that memory i haven’t heard this other theory before that Irving is Mark’s therapist or something? because of some line i must’ve missed about Mark seeing a therapist with a moustache? it’s an interesting theory but i much prefer my theory that Irving is potentially a member of this resistance that’s working to fight against Lumon lol. he’s probably working with Reghabi and his job is to be the man on the inside!! especially ironic since he was the most devout in the beginning

Irving and his Innie dream about each other, and so Outside Irving has been using artistic free-association to paint the places he dreams of, and trying to learn more about Lumon. He's gotten hold of some kind of personnel list, and seeing which names seem to elicit some feeling or recognition. That's what I reckon. I also think that Irving is a former assassin in the US special forces, like Navy Seal or Delta Force, and that's why he lives alone and does art, and drives an old sports car and plays Motorhead when he paints. He is potentially the most dangerous person to Lumon if that's true.

So the staff actually created an official LinkedIn page for Lumon Industries, which provides some background clues. Irving is listed as having worked for Lumon for 9 years. This matches his employee number ending in 454, which is far lower than the 3 other MDR employees (900s). Since Irving's innie says he's been working in MDR for only 3 years, it is implied he has held some other position(s) in Lumon for the 6 years prior to that. Perhaps Irving was once a non-severed employee in a similarly high-ranking hole like Milchik's? Or perhaps his severed memories were reset when he began working at MDR?

One theory that I agree with is that Irwin worked in management, but did something Lumon didn't like, so they severed him as punishment. They essentially let him keep his job, but no longer has any access. Lumon likely doesn't realize he has all of that paperwork.

My theory about Irving is that he originally worked in O&D and formed an attachment with Burt while there. It makes sense based on his age and artistic talent. I think Lumon wiped his Innie memories and that was when he and Burt went to the testing floor. It was likely a traumatic experience and is in his memory somewhere. It appears Outie Irving is suspicious about Lumon and has been doing his own research. He seems to be intentionally depriving himself of sleep to trigger his Innie to doze off at work. Sleep is prohibited for the Innies because it seems the Outie memories can seep through during sleep which is why Irv kept seeing the black paint and hearing the song.

I think the little glass plaques are something they give you to pacify you in response to some highly unusual, traumatic situation.
