I think that the Mark in the orange onesie pajamas is his subconscious self. It’s neither his Innie nor his Outie. The subconscious self is the only part of a person that Lumon doesn’t know how to erase - and it is therefore able to leak into both the Outie and Innie’s personalities and experiences. Like how Irving’s Innie sometimes has visions of black paint at work that’s because his Outie has painted SO MUCH, that it has become a part of his subconscious memory.

Red represents dread like the testing floor elevator and the alarms. Although in this instance he’s wearing an orange jumpsuit like a prisoner.

I think the opening is about the undo severance process that mark is going to do. Maybe the ballons represent the feeling when you suffer this process, like Petey did, and the outie start to remember the life and memories of the innie. The coffee mug with Irving face maybe represent that the Irving’s outtie will wake up mark, like a coffee.

I am of the belief that the PJ Mark is the outie since the innie only wear business clothes. I took the opening as the outie Mark trying to figure out what is going on.

Pete was also wearing a red robe as an outtie in Mark‘s house. I think the red color represents the outties and the blue color the innies. Since in Lumon‘s office the blue (and green) color are very present (Helena‘s dress, Ms. Cobel office, Michick‘s shirt, Mark‘s ballons…)

I think at 8:40 this is not the alcohol but medicine for reintegration, and it is showing the exaggerated consequence of doing it. In season one Pete should had taken those but he didn't, that caused his death(probably). 9:44 this is not Dylan but Gemma/Ms. Casey

I think the difference between the opening title segment of season 1 and 2 is that season 1is more general. Where as season 2 focus is more focued. Other words season 1 shows the audience visually WHAT service is and season 2 is HOW severance is experienced. As always enjoyed your analysis ❤

i think the entire town is a testing ground for live stock that lumon grew in the lab , and mark is a main person that they tested this on they let him live a long life and then killed his wife to test how he will react and i think there is a loot of towns like this full of other marks

So I think Helena will try to reintegrate in the testing facility. That is what the last shot is. I think Helena really wants to have a connection with someone but can’t because of the pressure her family puts on her. At the end of this season she will either reintegrate or place her brain in Ms. Casey’s body.

The intro may be about balancing paradoxes within Lumon's effort to evolve from Severance to Obedience. The implant is in development undoubtably, and the goal may be to fully control consciousness. The departments at Lumon seem to be tied to mind functions innate and intrinsic. The mind becomes the body, and the body becomes the mind. The means to manipulate this natural process is the work being done. Maybe the implant coming out with the depiction of the innies' and outies' converging realities even afterward is a problem for Lumon and Mark is the key. His mind in action, the non-cognitive part, seems to latch on to the correct ballon out of the other's floating around in his head. Lumon needs to find out why. It seems that there is a process to overwrite the mind but there is a loss in fidelity, the mind is a terrible thing to waste. It is going to be interesting to find out how the work done by the innies is detailed because there needs to be an explanation as to why Mark is so unique compared to his counterparts.

I have been thinking about Quantum computing this season. Many people have this binary view of the chips but what if they can transform them not just between innie & outtie but a potentially infinite number of scenarios and versions? Quantum computing is basically like accounting for every possibility in a never ending tree of options. It's like choosing on, off, and on/off (Schrondinger's Cat is dead and alive) all at the same time and acknowledging every permutation of those fractal selves. I'm leaning more into Quantum theory with this episode for so many reasons.

I have a running theory that Gemma or at least the photo of Gemma that we see is a woman basically made by lumen… And I think Dylan‘s wife is going to look exactly like Gemma and Miss Casey too. Or she’s gonna be whatever they are… I’m wondering if maybe Dylan‘s kids are from another marriage and his wife died too… more on that in a second. Also, I can’t believe more people haven’t commented on this, but look at the wedding picture… It looks like her face is super imposed on someone else’s face. I think they’re not supposed to be able to reproduce… Or they think they can’t… Cause they’re trying to get everything… I think Mark got her pregnant and then I think they staged the accident using another body that looked just like her. Because think about it if they’re gonna put Helena… The CEO… Into the program… They’re not gonna just toss her in with anyone… They’re gonna put her in with either important people or people who have a lot to do with the project or whatever the case may be, but they’re not just gonna put random workers with the CEO‘s daughter Then you remember how at the end of last season once we saw Irving lift up that layer in the chest and come to find that his outie had a list of all the severed people and was doing his own research… We found out that so far three out of four of the people in that group seem to be closely tied with lumen beyond just working as severed people The only one left is Dylan and the second. I heard his wife’s monotone and slightly cheerful affect on the phone, I got this theory… I’m honestly starting to think it’s some sort of a Truman show type situation apart from it being on TV lol… Like I think everyone in that town is involved with lumen to some degree whether they’re aware of it or not… And I think lumen has the ability to either erase people‘s memories or alter them or something to that degree So far we have Gretchen and Gemma… I bet Miss Casey has a name that starts with a G too lol unless if she is Gemma, even if Dylan‘s wife looks different I still think that they’re some kind of pod people lol

i don't think we can read into the "story" of the intro too much. I read somewhere that the guy who created it wasn't given any details about the show/plot other than like a quick vague generalization. It seems that description was enough to create something that would fit into the themes of 'split brain' and 'severed consciousness' etc. but to try to tie any of it into detailed elements of the story seems like fanboy reaching and putting meaning into things where there isn't any - at least not to any specific extent.

Small detail I picked up on after 2nd viewing of s2e2 is that during the Lumon is listening animation they show in the new break room...the animations are from things that happened in season 1 and then show things we as viewers have not seen yet such as pineapple bobbing. Are we to believe this happened already or that it's meant to be shown later this season? The animation format HIDES the chronology while also making them feel important and also adding to them being like their child-like outties excel while they are on the inside. I've noticed a consistent theme between seasons 1 & 2 so far where Lumon tempts the innies with information about their outties and obscures information about their innies with vague statements. Their outties want to know what their outties do and their innies want to know their outties do and Lumon leverages this to their benefit. Possibly Lumon is searching for a way to make the "perfect" flawless robot workers by either eliminating the idea of the other or by bringing their outties into their innies.
