Hi Kim. Really enjoying the pants fitting series. I don't always comment but I ALWAYS give a thumbs up. I do so enjoy learning anything related to sewing. Thanks for all your videos. They are most helpful.

Love the fitting tutorial. I don't know why, but I never thought to take more from the darts. I always tried to fiddle with taking a wedge out. I will have to try this. Thank you

Fantastic Kim! A really useful vlog! I am currently making the Peppermint Magazine wide legged pants and have just cut out the second muslin. I will photograph this and upload it to the Facebook page 👍❤️

Thank you so much for trying to explain how you alter the pattern to fit. It would be very helpful to see the result on the muslin too in same video as the alteration was. Looking forward to the other videos as well.

Reading the wrinkles, sounds a bit mysterious. Never occurred to me to make my darts deeper ! Very helpful to completely think about the edits and the results.

Hi Kim - I'm really enjoying your fitting tutorial. I haven't sewn myself trousers for years now as patterns don't fit anymore because the body is old and facing south! Just a small question. With your swayback, the centre back was pinned in half an inch and you took off an eighth of an inch on each waist dart = half an inch. Do you take the other half inch off the side?
@dorothysdaughtersews4 жыл бұрын
Just realized that last night. I should have taken 1/4” on either side. 🤦♀️. Sometimes it’s hard not to fumble on camera. Sorry about that.

Hi Kim, have followed your instructions, have measured myself twice and my pants are too big, not at waist, but leg part, although my choice of pattern is partly flat partly elasticated at the waist, they just feel too big Have send you some pictures (you may share them if you feel) to your mailbox 👍hope you can help me what to do

Thanks, Kim! Interesting stuff, haven’t yet made a pair of pants, don’t wear them a lot, so studying what you’re doing and saving these videos! I do have the Duet trousers, but going in a different direction right now, bag making, Lateida has inspired me to make all sorts of bags. (Sew Natural Dane for those of you who don’t follow her) However,I am known to be a bit of a magpie, so.....

Hi Kim. Love your video. I am confused. Admittedly, I don't understand the "crotch curve" stuff. It looked like there was about 3 inches of curve that needed to be "scooped out" and you took a fraction of an inch away. I really don't see how that could possibly do the job. Can you explain it to me please?
@dorothysdaughtersews4 жыл бұрын
What it did was show me a trend. The crotch curve ruler doesn’t account for any ease at all.

made my muslin, it is just huge. My measurements come to a 14 but that was huge so I went to a 12 still huge, tad frustrated. Did you put on the facings when making the muslin? Don't know how to do the pic for Facebook I'll work on it. Thank you for your videos and encouragement.

You adjusted the dart in the back to help with gaping. What if the pants don’t have a dart. What do you do?
@dorothysdaughtersews2 жыл бұрын
You could create a dart, or you could adjust the curvature of the back center seam, or maybe both.

Hi Dorothy, I am new here, living in Nova Scotia Canada. I am taking 8my waist measurements but I have a tummy. How do I measure it? Thanks...loving your class!
@dorothysdaughtersews4 жыл бұрын
I use an elastic band and put it on my waist so I know where to measure. Where your waist is is subjective, but I usually say it’s where you bend side to side

How did you determine how much to scoop and how much to extend the place where the crotch meets?
@dorothysdaughtersews4 жыл бұрын
It is not an exact science. I would start with 1/4” and take or add more as needed. A little goes a long way.

I used the cut file for my Silhouette, made a stencil and used fabric ink. The cut file is available on Ellie & Mac. The link to it is in the video description. One of my favorites :-)
