Hi, fantastic video with oodles of inspiration thank you, But I do wish you wouldn’t fret about how long the videos are and feel you have to rush, we are here because we want to hear about all this stuff 😊. That truly was bloody brilliant and hopelessly inspiring! I am "hopelessly" because all those ideas swimming round in my head now are doing battle with the little devil sitting on my left shoulder whispering, "And you're going to wear that *where*?" But sometimes we sew &/or knit for actual *wearing* reasons, and sometimes we create out of the absolute *need* to create something beautiful. It looks as though the latter option is going to win out this time. 😘

Love this! I think it is great when the industry actually make clothes for us "normal people" and things that won't go out of style in a season. More sustainable, both for the environment and your finances :) So glad I made the Fibre Mood Hunter coat last year. Looks like I'll be in style this winter.. haha. Thanks Kate!

@madebykarenmarie Жыл бұрын
@@juliabouy Haha. It actually wasn't too bad. The Fibre Mood instructions were not great, but I found a video on KZbin, and I used some of the techniques I learned from sewing the Heather blazer (Friday pattern co. has an excellent sewalong there). I think I spent two or three nights sewing the Hunter. I have used it for two seasons now, and I am still in love with it.

Thank you for this. The trends don't seem much like "trends" at the moment, more wardrobe workhorses that you could wear and wear. I'm in favour of it (and the beauty of being a maker: I can supply some frivolity if I want)!
@mellie41742 жыл бұрын
Oh no... It's a trend. It's the 90s revisited. .. except that it's ALL oversized which i hate because it just makes me look like a box! I will definitely not be in trend this season lol!
@gemmanonymous57392 жыл бұрын
@@mellie4174 ah- I was a teenager in the 90s so maybe that's why it seems less trend-led to me (I think part of me has decided that that's just what clothes look like!).

Great assessment! Love the patterns you chose- I would only add one more-when you were talking "turtlenecks"-one I love the Itch to Stitch": "Hepburn" I've sewn this multiple times, and our granddaughter loves them as well-she's 31, and we share a "passion for fashion" so to speak. I do sew for her-but she also receives things I no can longer wear! I might be old, but your only as young as you feel-especially when donning your 'look"! Thank you, and have a great weekend! :+)

Thanks for the video, never realised there were so many new pattern companies, that's good news for us who like to keep an eye on current trends. Must admit I've usually stuck to Vogue or McCalls for classics. I'm looking for inspiration, I have a length of moss/dark green tweedy medium weight, material it was destined for a tailored jacket but I can't make my mind up to go with that or add a thicker inner lining and use another pattern that is styled in a Parka type.....more casual style, probably more useful for winter. I don't want it to date though.

I think you'd get lots of wear out of either. Parkas are always stylish and very useful to own!

I learned a thing today--I had no idea that what we in the US call a turtleneck is called a polo neck in the UK. This was great! I must say as a viewer from the US, I learned your term of “polo” collar, we call a turtle neck. A polo to us is a pullover, knit/jersey shirt with a knit collar and buttons half way down, a whole style of shirt or dress, not just a collar. I was all kinds of confused until I googled it, lol! Anyway, wonderful video. I love these types of videos. ❤️

I've tried making the knit dress and while they've turned out well, they aren't flattering on my backside. Anyone have fabric suggestions that wouldn't accentuate every lump and bump?
@gemmanonymous57392 жыл бұрын
Hi CoconutKetty, I guess if the fabric has some pattern or texture it might help. I tend to size up for a smoother line too.
@juliemulie18052 жыл бұрын
Just the nature of knit. It's why I bought some opaque tights with control top for this style. Warmer too.
@TheFoldLine2 жыл бұрын
Fabrication for this is key and annoyingly it's a bit of trial and error. Slightly thicker jersey's are a bit more forgiving, and I tend to size up. Jersey patterns are cut with a negative ease (because of the stretch) so you can go up a size without noticing too much. Another option would be to alter the size for the bottom half of the dress so it clings less. I hope that helps a little!

Hi Kate - i am looking for something like the classic Liesl shirt but without a bust dart. I got this amazing printed silk fabric that has a Klimt like image and will have to work hard to match the pattern and don’t want to disturb it with a dart.
