All of this simple understated elegance and I'm over here making big poofy Vali Dresses out of enormous floral printed linens. 🙃 Just my luck! 😅

You do you! Those trends are only ever suggestions.

Me looking at all the simple understated elegance - oooh, that’s so nice - while clinging onto my ditsy florals for dear life.

It's interesting to see what the trends are, but they're way too reflective of constraint in modern life and there is very little joyous expansion in them. Just think how incredible you will look in enormous floral print linen against a backdrop of all this bland. Like a flower in a field of wheat.

I’m relieved to see options for those of us who tend to have big sleeves and gathered layers “wear us”. They are beautiful for sure, but easily overwhelm me. I also love a mini skirt!

Good enough for the autumn, 24, too. Thank you

If it's Kate, it must be Sunday! Thanks for being our weekly sewing beacon! I've made the Tessuti Evie Bias Skirt a few times. Once in a fine checked wool, which worked a treat. Another few times in silk, which I use mostly as half slips under other skirts and dresses, both for cling control and winter warmth (plus it's so delicious to swish about in silk). I used the elastic-waist option, but there's also a bound waist with zip.

I had forgotten that there would be a part two this week, but recognised the sweater instantly and thought oh, two weeks in a row? That is the kind of textile nerd I am. The sweater is beautiful and looks so well on you.

…also, a lengthened version of the Assembly Line 3-pleat skirt I’m making reminds me of some of these.

That Fibre Mood Robyn dress is so beautiful! I’ve made the Paradise Patterns Protea Pants a couple of times, in a soft light weight denim and also in a washed, drapey linen. Fabulous!

Just love these new trends- ( Glad I patiently waited and did not get into these poofy princess dresses that looks so flattering on the younger ones ;)) I was very inspired by your pattern’s choices, many thanks to you 🧡

Love all of this! Especially the dresses. For a variety on the long straight denim skirt I did the Vikisews Annetta skirt in black denim and really liked how it turned out. I’m not fond enough of my knees to go for a slit up the front…

This is fabulous as ever. I feel a bit confused though as only this week a couple of newspaper fashion editors were saying how big florals are for dresses - large single flower print in particular ( nothing ditsy) although silhouettes were pared back. I guess in the end we all make what we like and what suits us!! Thank you Kate. 😊 Lynne

That was a great review. I have some prints! Ooops. I love your pattern picks especially the dresses which are new to me and I will have a go with those and maybe some of my prints. I’m longing to make a denim skirt too

Leave off the pockets to imitate the high street skirts?! 😮 Sacrilege! When there are women out there who _have_ to shop RTW that are starving for pockets...

The new trends sound absolutely awful. Muted and elegant = drab, colourless and boring.
