I’ve never sewn a garment before, and for anyone else who hasn’t either, the first one takes you some time. Once you get the hang of it, you start churning them out quickly. (Desi got 6 done in a weekend.) This video is really helpful, thanks, Brody. 🙌

RIGHT? I did 10. Cut them out all at once, then did assembly line sewing. I did not enjoy the bias tape around the arms. I got different patterns. I'm making 50 dresses. Only because they number of labels I had to buy was 50. I didn't want them to go to waste. Nobody near me is making dresses.

This was very well done. I appreciate the tips and tricks. I like the way the border was sewn with a french seam as well as the tip to tack the straps to the dress so they do not get lost. Thanks for the video.

Great video Brody, I have the fabric, labels, and now with this easy step by step tutorial I’m excited to make the girl dresses for this wonderful service project. I was worried about what I had committed to making after watching several other “how to make dress videos” but this one definitely is easy to follow. Thank you very much!

You can use a binding tool at the iron station. You feed the fabric through one end and pull it out the other side. It folds the fabric 2x and you just run the iron over the fold as you pull the length of fabric through the gadget. It is accurate and fast.

In My wildest dreams I would’ve never thought you would show us how to make these wonderful dresses, on your video. this craft - lesson is wonderful I’ve made about 30 of these and sent them out a few years ago. I made the different sizes and I never got around to making the boys shorts that I could have sent as well but I really enjoyed making those dresses. God bless you and I hope the Lord helps you with your sales because you reach so many people showing them how to make things. we see your humanity by doing these wonderful dresses to help these poor little children that live in a warm climate they don’t need coats and mittens thank you so much for showing all of your viewers how to make things for children that live in a warm climate. Thanks again for showing us how to do the French seams to send the. Best little dresses possible

Two questions .... 1) why does the folded armhole length have to be cut & resewn; couldn't you just leave it a folded side? 2) Brodie you indicated that you can use a serger, so would that mean that they would not have a French seam but a serged seam? I just want to make sure that our efforts will be able to be used. I'm going to introduce my "ladies Bible Study group" to this service project. Totally love it. Thanks so much for sharing this!

There are many options and techniques you can use. As long as there are all finished seams the dresses should be accepted. You can find more answers to frequently asked questions here: www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com/ Thank you!

It has to be cut and resewn so the sides are even. If only one side has a French seam, the other side will be too big. Make sense?

I just finished the first one, using the same fabrics on both but opposites. I think the ties are too short at only 22 inches like the pattern says. I'm going to take mine out and make another set more like 30 inches long. I can't tie them in a bow. Better too long than too short. Supper easy and cute cute cute.

@@baseballquilter8984 Both my daughters were sensitive to certain detergents, so I understand what you are saying. However, my experience has been that children who are that sensitive to detergents are also sensitive to the chemicals in new fabrics. I always use the unscented hypoallergenic laundry detergent for that reason. Pre washing is a personal decision based on how I was taught to make garments. Thanks for your comment, though. It’s certainly something to consider.
