Excellent! I’ve made half of the shirt. Wondering about backstitching and your machine bogging. I have trouble in this area. Also, love your snaps!

I usually don’t have an issue with the seam bogging unless I’m using a fairly slinky fabric. I try to use the smallest needle I can and slowly guide the fabric through if I’m afraid it will get caught up. I also use my thumb to take pressure off the presser foot and fabric, that will help a lot!

Does top stitching with a straight stitch keep the seam stretchy?

There’s always chance for seams to break when it’s a straight stitch but I’ve found this technique to be quite secure and haven’t had any breaking with it on stretchy fabrics.
