Thank you - you're the first person I've found who has shown how to attach this kind of front facing and collar . (I got so confused with the instructions, and could NOT figure it out) Now I've seen you do it, I reckon I can sew it ! Thank you

Where have you been all my life!.... thank you so much for these posts, you make sense of it all, you take away the fear...AND....I love the way you dealt the the part that didnt work out around the collar....which is where I would usually give up. Thank you ....you are a star xxxx

I just finished this jacket and it looks beautiful. I used a mustard colored fabric with an interesting waffle design that was 100% cotton. I typically watch your videos all the way thru before making the garment so I was aware after watching the video that I would likely need to make the same adjustments that you did with the facing pieces. However, I forgot and after I had sewed the facings to the collar, I ended up having to rip out the seams to make the very same adjustment that you did. It was an excellent learning experience tho, because now any time I sew a garment that has facing pieces, I will check the facing piece by pinning it to the collar FIRST, to make sure it matches up with the shoulder seam 'before' I permanently sew it.

Great job Brittany, do not worry about the facing matching the shoulder seam. You didn't do anything wrong.I have been sewing for over 25 years and every pattern I have ever made like that, the facing would do that. It was nothing you did wrong --it was the pattern.

Nicely done. Loved your problem-solving on the facing. Couldn't help but notice that the fabric you used for the casing inside the jacket seemed to match (or was the same) as the top you are wearing with the jacket. Looks great...well coordinated.

I commend you girl. Not only does it take you a couple hours to sew, do steps, film THEN you gotta edit it!?! I mean it’s a lot of work! And you do it with such detail and precision. I speed sew and never sew in a straight line just to finish faster 😂

Well done for this jacket, it's gorgeous ! What do you think about sewing it in a corduroy ? And adding a belt ?
@TaDarling13 жыл бұрын
Funny that you mention a corduroy option. I just made this jacket in corduroy. Everything worked except that it was impossible for me to machine sew the buttonholes thru the thick layers of corduroy fabric. I compensated by doing snaps in place of the buttonholes.

Super cute on you, I like both the jacket and the pants. How tall are you, just for perspective. My daughters measurements alight with the sizes you make, but she is just 5’2”, so I am trying to get a sense of if it would look as well on her.

So cool, but how and whT is under stitching, and also finishing off a seam, can you model it. I'm such a beginner!
@brittanyjjonestv6 жыл бұрын
Hey Lori. Under-stitching is when you sew a facing/lining to the seam allowance. It helps the facing/lining not to roll out when you wear your garment. Finishing off a seam is trimming down the seam allowance either with a serger, pinking shears or a zig zag stitch. And I'm still working on the modeling but, yes I'll give it a go! Thanks for watching me video.
@michellewilliams37366 жыл бұрын
As I'm new to sewing, I do know how to make buttonholes with my machine but what I don't know is how to mark for placement on my garment, so seeing that would help or would you do a video on it.

I like ur videos u tell us what step u are doing in the pattern, thanks🧚🏿♀️
@brotherunlimited70003 жыл бұрын
I've learned not to cut ANY seam allowance Until you've finished the whole jacket, then, go back inside the Jacket and trim off any loose threads and any oversized Allowances. you don't cut ANYTHING until you've finished the whole jacket, that way you don't get these types of Issues.
@sharitatedder38466 жыл бұрын

Disappointed that you were working with wrinkled fabric. Start out with everything pressed. Unprofessional for a seamstress
