Great tutorial full of common sense suggestions. Could you stitch in the ditch to stabilise the backing?

Brilliant tutorial, thank you so much. I was hoping to find a video which would show how to include fastening and neckline details. I also like the way you planned putting the pieces together in a way pleasing to the eye. I look forward to trying this for my two granddaughters now!

If you want to stitch in the ditch, I definitely recommend pressing your seams to the side instead of open or else you’ll compromise the integrity of the seams :)

Love this! I’m totally new to sewing but would love to make a quilt. A lot of my baby grows are newborn/0-3 - could I use a smaller square size?
@HappySpaceCreates
@HappySpaceCreates 2 жыл бұрын
You absolutely could use a smaller square but you will need more baby grows in total to make a decent size quilt. I make a template out of old cardboard and lay them out to work our how many squares I will need. I hope this helps and happy sewing! Xx

Fantastic! Thank you- now I know how to correct my earlier (failed) attempt. Just wondered- did you use a longer stitch length when sewing through the wadding?
@HappySpaceCreates

Do you not stitch in ditch all over the quilt right through to the backing?
@HappySpaceCreates
@HappySpaceCreates 3 жыл бұрын
Hiya, I personally just stitch in the ditch over the front and the wadding on this size quilt as I like to keep the backing smooth I feel like it keeps it more snuggly. if the quilt was very large I would do so on the outer edging pieces so it still looks decorative at the back as well. that is my personal preference although everyone might do it differently xx

The quilting should respect the type you use, if the one you use says it must not be more then 5 inches apart do stitch each 5 inches otherwise with time it will tear in between the layers
