I need to make these for my grands for their summer camp. Really handy and cute.

I've made two of these last year, but all that foam and lining is so unnecessary. I used outdoor waterproof fabric that's used for patio furniture pillow covers. It's a little bit stiffer and didn't require the extra foam and lining and it's waterproof so bonus.

That sounds cool! I’m so glad you enjoyed the ones you made last year!

Love this pattern and can’t wait to sew. Question before I start sewing all my cut pieces, the pattern for the pocket flap says 1/4” seam allowance but the video says 3/4” and it looks like you did sew 3/4”. Which is it? Thanks so much

In testing, it was 3/4” but we decided it was better at 1/4” for release. I’m sorry about the discrepancy.

Parachute cord should work and be easy to find. It would match all different fabrics too.

Hi if I’m using waterproof canvas do I need interfacing please
@EllieandMacPatternsLLC3 ай бұрын
No interfacing, just the fusible foam.

Is there any reason why we couldn’t use snaps. Rather than velcro to close the pocket? I think I’d like the look of snaps better from the outside. 😊

Also, thinking maybe use InsulBrite to help keep the contents cooler?
@EllieandMacPatternsLLC4 ай бұрын
I think both are great ideas! Yes, you can totally use snaps or even magnetic closures.

@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC sewed this up yesterday! Used InsulBright, and since that is not fusible, I used quilt basting spray to adhere to my fabric until it was sewn. Haven’t finished the closures yet; still trying to figure out what exactly I want to do. Now that it’s sewn and I can see the pocket in real life, I’m wondering if it would have been nice to use some elastic along the top of the pocket to help keep stuff inside in case the bag falls over or turns upside down by accident. Quick and easy sew! Thanks for the great pattern! Sewing the strap was a little challenging at first, until I really understood the folding, but then it went fine! 🎉

That sounds like a fun bag you’ve got going! I hope it all comes together just as you prefer. 🩷
