It's more than that, in my humble opinion. It illustrates how much my father, my dad has sacrificed. Much more than money, material possession, or even fleeting happiness. It's his eternal peace, his freedom, himself entirely; for his three children and the now dead wife, love of his life. His sanity. His entirety. It hit me as if I had concrete shoes in a lake. I know this may seem dramatic or over the top but fuck, seriously fuck. His everything, for his children. That's the sacrifice. Sewerslvt, thank you.

[Instrumental Intro] [Sample: Clay & Dolly] Dolly, if I go to work today, I'm gonna kill somebody. I see... Well, at least you put in that paperweight order. Ahaha, it won't be enough, they never get enough. Always so much more paper than there are weights. You know how much paperwork I have? It never stops! I don't know how it happens, you start off in life, as a little baby- Uh-huh, no paperwork. Exactly, no paperwork. But do we appreciate it all as little babies? No, we cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry. Well, I guess when you have a family, that's the sacrifice you make. Sacrifice, exactly! I sacrificed The ultimate sacrifice! My happiness! For my kids! You bet I did! You bet I did... And I'd do it again, too. I'd do it over and over again Ha, that's my life! Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and o- Okay Clay, I get the point. No you-! [Music] [Drop: Clay] And then when you finally get one of these, *trumpet sounds* coveted pieces of tail that've been built up as the grand trophy in your nothing life, you try desperately to keep it. Not to protect it, but to hoard it, to keep it away from the other wolves and jackals circling your territory. And you realize, all too soon, that you're not good enough, that maybe there was a jerkoff called Darwin after all, and that you never acknowledged his existence because you knew deep inside that you were really what you feared you were Weak, and passive, and ultimately broken by the ones who were made the fittest. [Bridge: Clay] And then through your weaknesses you built up a poison, that poisoned others around you... That you love... And the only true justice, was to let those dominant jackals feed on you, survive off you. [Drop] [Post-Drop: Clay] 'Numb', some call it. Now, me and Jesus, we like to feel pain. [Instrumental Outro]

This might be weird, but I actually think this is a good song to describe Clay Puppington’s life. Just this unending dulled miasma of sadness and _disappointment_ . Only punctuated by his outbursts of anger and abuse that poison everyone around him. Just the same thing, the same jail he’s in, that he built for himself. The Sacrifice he tells himself he’s making. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, and if anyone tries to tell him they get it, NO THEY _DON’T_ Idk where Dark Souls fits in tho. This is just me being pretentious lol.
@0average_enjoyer044 Жыл бұрын
well in that interpretation dark souls fits very well! dark souls is a game all about meaningless sacrifice. at the heart of the game’s world and end of the story is a meaningless sacrifice, the first flame. more than that, one could say that the entire game is the mc preparing themselves for this by endlessly pointlessly sacrificing themself over and over and over and over and over…

Dark Souls Title menu Sample has me nostalgic. This is a song of Sorrow and I can feel that pain a little bit in the song, yet so hard to not listen to. Nostalgic pain is something I constantly crave.

Dolly, if I go to work today, I'm gonna kill somebody I see... Well, at least you put in that paperweight order Ahaha, it won't be enough, they never get enough Always so much more paper than there are weights You know how much paperwork I have? It never stops! I don't know how it happens, you start off in life, as a little baby Uh-huh, no paperwork Exactly, no paperwork But do we appreciate it all as little babies? No, we cry, cry, cry Cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry Well, I guess when you have a family That's the sacrifice you make Sacrifice, exactly! I sacrificed The ultimate sacrifice! My happiness! For my kids! You bet I did! You bet I did... And I'd do it again, too I'd do it over and over again Ha, that's my life! Over and over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over And over and over and o- Okay Clay, I get the point No, you! And then when you finally get one of these Coveted pieces of tail that have been built up As the grand trophy in your nothing life You try desperately to keep it Not to protect it, but to hoard it To keep it away from the other wolves And jackals circling your territory And you realize, all too soon, that you're not good enough That maybe there was a jerkoff called Darwin after all And that you never acknowledged his existence Because you knew deep inside that you were really What you feared you were Weak, and passive, and ultimately broken By the ones who were made the fittest And then through your weaknesses You built up a poison That, poisoned others around you... That you love... And the only true justice Was to let those dominant jackals feed on you Survive off you Numb, some call it. Now, me and Jesus, we like to FEEL pain

Idk if it holds any significance to the song but I think it samples the backing choir from Dark Souls 1’s character creation screen. You can really hear it after the drop at 1:47

Depressing show. I can barely stomach it, and I've seen the leftovers of serial killers' victims.
