This was such a treat! Getting to see you make a fabulous vintage style dress and getting a tour of a 1930's art deco palace! It was double the fun. I adore your dress. The scottie dog buttons, that fabulous belt, the pleats..... It all came together wonderfully. I also think it's so sweet that there were notes from the original owner of the pattern.

Thank you so much Katie 💕 I know you would appreciate the notes in the pattern! And share my love of 1930s style. The art deco palace was wonderful to see as it was small enough - despite being called a palace - to be homelike. And it’s been preserved just as the family lived in it in the 1930s. Thank you so much for watching and encouraging me. 💗💐

The 1930's dress looks fabulous on and I admire all the details from the elegant sleeves, the pleats and your lovely Scottie dog buttons. I especially like the drape of the dress and the way the bottom swooshes but the rest holds its shape beautifully. you are obviously and excellent seamstress. Interesting historical details too and the art deco setting was wonderful to see, thank you.

I’m so touched to hear this! I must admit this project and video is the closest to my heart of all of them. 30s dresses and construction techniques are rather neglected and there tends not to be as much interest in them as the more popular 50s - but they are where my passion lies, along with the era’s obsession with Scotties! I’m so pleased to have someone appreciate all the dress details and the art deco setting. 💐

Wow! Beautifully done. I can certainly see the authenticity in following the original pattern, it just looks "right." Thank you for taking us along to the palace, I very much enjoyed the tour. 🌻🍄

Thank you very much! I’m really pleased you enjoyed seeing the original pattern made up. I know very few people use these originals now due to sizing, lack of markings, instructions etc but I really want to keep alive an appreciation for them. It always touches me when someone else sees their value too - and I’m glad you enjoyed the tour! 🎀🌸

They were the first ones I ever bought from Memery. They’re even comfy for dog walking. Thank you so much for watching and encouraging me 💗💐

Wow!!!! You did an AMAZING job with what looks like a very fiddly pattern and fabric! And the Scottie dog buttons are just so perfect with the fabric. (I love your funny comments about your adorable real dogs, too!) Eltham Palace was absolutely the BEST reveal background imaginable, and the tour you gave us was like gorgeous icing on a delicious cake 🥰 So inspiring and so charming!!! SUBSCRIBED!!!

Oh you’re so kind to say all this and have given such cheer to my Saturday evening. It’s lovely to have my ideas and efforts appreciated! 🥰 The pattern was a sea of perforations and the fabric slippy - I’m pleased someone noticed! And I drove across London to reach Eltham Palace so I’m thrilled you enjoyed that setting too. Wonderful to know you’ve subscribed! Thank you very much ❤️

I remember you wanted to see this one - and it was one I had a fully formed vision of in my mind too - so it had to be done! Vintage rayons are beautiful, though I remember wondering why they weren’t made anymore. When I looked into it it was because the process involved chemicals that gave factory workers life shortening illnesses. So they’ll never be made again (and therefore have to be bought whenever spotted!) Thank you very much! 💗💐

Hi Samantha! Don't you just love finding little personal notes in vintage items?!? I purchased a couple antique cookbooks and one had a sweet little note from her husband in it, telling her how she is the best wife and cook ever. 🩷 Your Scottie dog collection is adorable! 🥰 The dress turned out gorgeous and what an absolutely perfect place to film the reveal! Thank you for sharing!
@Samanthalovestosew8 ай бұрын
Hi Laura! Oh I love the thought of the note from her husband telling her she was the best cook and wife ever. Much sweeter than a note I found scrawled in one of my vintage magazines. It was a story about an unfaithful wife I think. Part of it was underlined and someone (I guess the husband) had written ‘So that’s it!!!’ Thank you for appreciating my Scottie dog collection (I recently added to it! 😂) and the dress of course, in its Art Deco setting! 💗🌷

It takes real courage to work with a vintage pattern. They are so very different from modern patterns. Very well done! Love the setting for the reveal. Recognized it from watching Poirot.

Thank you very much! I love vintage patterns but this one really did have me scratching my head. The bodice was speckled with perforations with the same size perforations marking different things. And I’m so pleased you recognised the interior from Poirot. I love that series so much I could practically recite each episode line by line!! 🌷

This turned out so very pretty!’ The fabric and the Scotties are adorable. I love the Poirot movies and Death on the Nile is my favorite so I really enjoyed the reveal. The whole look was amazing from the Memery shoes, the glasses, the hat and of course the dress ❤

I actually thought of you when I put this together Leslie! I knew it would be just your thing! (And mine too of course - surely the 30s is the most stylish decade of all?!) I bought the glasses from the old glasses shop on the internet. It’s always a bit of a risk buying glasses without trying them on. They’re 30s replicas and the seller phoned up to warn me how small they are. But they’re a success. Even non vintage people like them. Thank you very much for watching and supporting 💗💐

Oh goodness, there you are!! I nearly sent out an 🆘 but knowing your Internet problems of late, not sure if you'd even receive it!! Excellent choice of fabric, it really is SO deco! All the geometric patterns made across the pleats 👌 and those buttons are perfect 😍 i shall forever know this dress as The Hamish Dress 🔺️🔶️🔻🔶️🔺️ Eltham Palace interior is stunning, (that Antiques Roadshow episode is always popping up) and was a great setting to showcase your fabulous outfit! Your villainous Poirot character would be called Miss Black ⬛️ who actually gets one over on the Belgian detective 😧 but not Miss Lemon! Oh no no, she's the true master of deduction and saves the day! Ps Pixie stole the show this week 🤭

Here I am Rowan 😃 Despite the best efforts of EE to sabotage my new career as Miss Black, the new Poirot villain not to mention my life as a vintage influencer 😄 Their (misnamed) Customer Help department was impervious. The Hamish Dress it is! How have I missed the Antiques Roadshow in Eltham Palace?!! I thought I’d watched all episodes several times over. They once filmed an episode here at Minehead Railway station. Fiona had a make up artist and hairdresser fussing over her constantly in a way that would have driven anyone mad! Pixie has truly come out from her shell now after her hard early life on the streets of Serbia. She’s adjusting her expectations of life ever upwards (as dogs do when given half a chance!!) 🤗💗💐

@@Samanthalovestosew EE are certainly hampering your influencer status 😠 Rather than simply fix your service, I think compensation is in order!! That Roadshow episode must have been screened half a dozen times, I don't know how you've missed it either 😆 Wouldn't it be marvellous to have a little team of beauty experts trailing along with you all the time! Never a hair out of place, not a smudge of the makeup 😌 I could do with them when I'm out on the mower for hours!! 🤣 You're a slave to those dogs, tended to every whim, and I'm afraid that's your status forever now...dog servant! 🤣🤣

It was a bit of a surprise to find your video on KZbin this morning a nice one of course. I worked out it was another late night as the video appears to have been posted in the early hours. (1:00am to 2:00am?). I do not have the problem of animals getting in the way when I cut material purely because I don't cut material but I enjoy you and your 'material weights'. I love the way you problem solve having to sew two pieces of material together to make one piece and then using the pleats to hide the seam. The dress looked great as did you. I love 'Art Deco', a wonderful setting for you. I have missed you. Take care

Thank you very much Ian! Yes I promised myself I wouldn’t do anymore late nighters but then I did. My absence has been due to lack of broadband and all my spare hours being spent in battle with EE! I tried to do some yoga before work this morning and immediately the mat became the only place the dogs wanted to lie. I’m sure Harry and Meghan also position themselves in places where they can’t be ignored! So pleased you enjoyed the Art Deco setting too.

What a wonderful creation :) The fabric was perfect and the buttons adorable, and the buckle was not a debacle (sorry for a dad joke :D ), lovely pop of red. Bravo :) Also, darn, those interiors were gorgeous, that bathroom, wow, though I could live without that sculpture near the tub, it would feel awkward to sit in the tub while he's full-on looking at me. LOL :D

Thank you very much 💕 I’m glad you approve of the buckle and it isn’t a debacle! I know what you mean about the sculpture in the bathroom 😂 I guess anyone who chooses that gold setting to their bath is probably an extrovert, perhaps even exhibitionist! I think I’d be more inclined to head to the beautiful blue-green bathroom rather than the gold with the sculpture looking at me! Did you notice the telephone in the bedroom was gold too?! Thank you very much for watching and encouraging 💗💐

@@Samanthalovestosew Yes, the blue-green bathroom is much more my alley too, but since nowadays I have no bathtub at all (removing it while we were renovating bathroom is my big regret), I'd "sacrifice" myself and take that gold bathroom, heck, even with that statue. LOL
