We call that style dress a jumper, that would require you to wear a blouse or undershirt and the dress on top. I do like it, absolutely agree that it definitely needs pockets. I like the fabrics you choose.

The dress looks like it would be interesting to sew. It looks better worn as a pinafore than it does on its own. I agree that it doesn’t suit your shape very well (don’t think it would suit me either) Lovely to see His Lordship as he always makes me chuckle. Happy sewing, Micheline!

Interesting style, but agree with you, it's a lovely pinny,not sure I would wear as a dress not my style.

the only downside is that I don't spend enough time in the kitchen to merit it being a pinny! otherwise it will be definitely worn then. 😘

It was me who wrote about it in an earlier post. I so appreciate you showing how it was made. I’m a little hippy myself so I’m thinking it might not be my style either. I still might do a muslin with a couple of sheets just to give it a try. It did look better over a dress. If the muslin turns out good. I may do a solid color for outer main part and a print for under layer. Again thank you for doing this and I sorry it didn’t turn out for you.

aw, thank you very much for letting me know it was you. Victoria. I should have written your name down in my book and then I would remember it better that way. it's a nice dress but I just think for my shape it's not working. although it did look better over the long dress. however, a viewer has just pointed out that it might be great for changing on the beach because then you can basically cover up and do it quickly. I also think that perhaps the pattern was a bit too busy and had I used a plain colour on both sides it might have looked a lot better but you live and learn. 😉😘👍

I think the wrap top might look better made with a very drapery fabric. I agree with you that it looks more like an apron in the cotton fabric. The patterned fabric is really lovely though.

How do you think it would work in a draper fabric rather than a crisper cotton? Wondered if something like this would be great for the beach/ for kids after swimming?

I think it'll definitely work better with a softer fabric and what a great idea to have it for children changing at the beach. I never thought of that. 😉👍😘

thanks Margaret. I am definitely in agreement with you. it's one of those dresses that I certainly wouldn't get out of the wardrobe. So it will be taking a walk to the charity shop. 😜😘

It looks so well-made, but you are right, it's not very flattering on you. Maybe it's because you don't get any indication of a waistline with the ties set so high?

well, it's like the walkaway dress but it isn't the walkaway dress because the walkaway dress has a bodice and a skirt. this one is all one piece and I think that's why it doesn't look as flattering. No matter, I enjoyed making it and I hope that when it goes in the charity bag somebody might want it and enjoy wearing it. and of course that's another two pieces of my fabric stash that I haven't got to worry about. 🤔😉😜👍😘

Hi Micheline .Not your usual style it does nothing for you ,it makes you look bigger than you are ?i would give it up as a bad job ,ok for a skinny minny but not us voluptuous ladies ,your usual dresses are lovely ,I like the fabric but not the dress the ties seem all wrong .oh I’ll shut up now knowing you it will turn out ok 🥰🥰🥰

I have to agree with you Eileen. it is not my kind of dress and I really don't think it flatters me. so I shall be putting it into my next charity bag collection for a skinnier person to perhaps buy. 😜👍😘

definitely better as an apron, but unfortunately his lordship and his granddaughter are the two cooks in our house. I'm the sewer. So I guess that's going to have to go in the charity bag. but I really did enjoy the actual making process.😜👍😘
