Thanks for the tips Rosa. As a fairly new dressmaker it's good to see what I can choose for winter sewing. I've got some lovely cottons but like you said it's time to think about making clothes that are more cozy. Really enjoying your vlog & learning a lot from you thanks. It takes me ages to make a garment due to work, family & because I'm a beginner but I'm really enjoying the process & the videos are very helpful, cheers.

Looking forward to your Suzy Magazine. I follow Dominique Major and think it will be a great combination. I also have a longstanding obsession with corduroy. With plain colours I like the nap to be rough to the touch as I find more depth in the colour.

Loved this video, Rosa! Lovely to see the Girl Charlee Ponte Romas too- gives you a much better idea of their colour and quality :) I'm hoping to sew some Carolyn pyjamas in red chequered flannel, have you made any yet? I made a practice pair from cotton and they're SO lovely! Other than that, I'd love to make a coat or jacket (I have the Papercut Waver jacket that I should really have a go at) and I want to make a Ponte Roma dress too. And of course a Rosa dress is planned! Thanks again for the video & looking forward to Suzy x

I'm currently in the process of sewing a long sleeved shirt dress (simplicity 8014) from a gorgeous cotton drill I got from Ditto and it's my favourite autumn winter garment I've ever made. It's not too warm so it's great for transitional periods but it's long sleeved and great for layering come winter.

Hi Rosa! Great video and thank you for the kind words about our fabrics! Just one small thing, our Ponte De Roma are a blend of Polyester with Cotton, Rayon and Lycra (our website shows the mix for each type). Can't wait to see your dresses and the new magazine!!!

Hi Rosa, that was great inspiration, I have been looking for a pull on jersey skirt pattern too, just popped over to Amazon and bought it. I love striped jerseys and houndstooth - I've had my eye on that fabric from Girlcharlee so now I will have to pop over to their website and splurge again. I've bought some great suiting fabric for some ultimate pencil skirts (must cut out the pattern tonight) that I think will be great for work. I'm going to take the plunge with jersey, I have an overlocker but I'm new to sewing so it's all a little scary! I want Lisa's new e book to make the Molly top and the Tilly Rosa pattern - yours is fab just my kind of fabric. Good luck with your magazine launch.

I love the look of the Molly top too! I have seen some gorgeous ultimate pencil skirts too but I don't wear slim fitting skirts very often as I work with small children and need to bend down a lot haha!

I really appreciate your video since I am newly getting into true winter sewing after moving from California to the East Coast of the U.S. I wish we could get Liberty needle cord at an affordable price here: it is so beautiful. You have me interested to try Ponte de Roma now. I usually prefer natural fabrics. Great video!

Thank you! Liberty needlecord is so expensive usually, I would check out vintage for perhaps a cheaper option in the US x

I love all your striped shirts! I started copying you. I've been buying solids for decades. I guess I felt they were safe. Can you do a demo on how to match the stripes with the sleeves to the body? I'm having a hard time matching that part of my shirts.
@Sewn8 жыл бұрын
Yay I'm glad stripes are catching! To be honest I never match that part of the top as it's so fiddly. Maybe just choose one or two stripes to match that will be the most visible x

Im loving that wool color! I've been on the lookout for wool this past week, and you're right, its super expensive ($35-60 USD per yard)! Thankfully I ran across a woman selling her fabrics at a yard sale this past week and picked up three different wool pieces (plaids and solids) and walked away with over 7 yards for $7! Plenty of jackets coming with those, but now I think I may need to find that golden yellow! (I did pretty good with my recent score, maybe I can afford to spurge a bit now ;) )

Great Vlog once again. Super excited to find out about the magazine, will go over and check it out. I know we are heading into Summer here, although you wouldn't know it with the awful weather we have been having, floods even !! but now is the time for me to get some great bargains on Winter fabric I scored a wool blend the other week for $5 a metre ( about 2pond fifty) as I got over 3 metres so am going to try a jacket out of it I love your little jacket looks really cool. I love knits I learnt to dress make with knits so they don't hold any fear for me. Have a good couple of weeks using your new fabric I loved that dot swatch I think you need to get some of that :)

Girl Charlie, you're right they aren't ideal for leggings but you can make a pair of pants the same shape as leggings but slightly looser fit and they are lovely

Do you think the Ponte Roma would make a good legging?
@markcreasey96798 жыл бұрын
Hi Kat. Ponte only has 2 way stretch so may not be the best for leggings but I know lots of people have used it and liked it. We have some lovely soft Cotton Lycra fabrics with good 4 way stretch, and our new BOLT by Girl Charlee range are perfect for lovely warm, soft leggings! You can find them here - www.girlcharlee.co.uk/bolt-by-girl-charlee-c-212.html
