I just have to leave a comment! My coworker and I are costume technicians at Idaho State University. We have the first dress rehearsal for our current show TONIGHT. Well at last minute our boss told us we have to build two whole pairs of pants for an actor before his fitting in an hour! so yikes! we had no idea how to do a fly. usually we buy jeans or trousers but this actor is too large we have to make them. THIS VIDEO HELPED SO MUCH! thank you very much! great technique! and easy to follow!

Excellent tutorial. I could never get the perfect fly zipper because the patterns I've used always had the fly as a separate piece and no matter what I did, I could not get that perfect lead in from seam to the fly folding over (if that makes sense). I updated my pattern to include the fly on the pants (like yours) and now it became so simple. I don't know why they make patterns with the separate fly, it makes things needlessly difficult.
