I know that this video is old, but my grandmother has this sewing machine and when she passed away they let me have it. I’ve had it for almost 17 years now and never knew how to so never knew how to thread it. Thank you so much for this video

I have an old Singer machine and it's built similar to yours and I was able to completely thread my machine after trying for three hours!!! I was reading the Singer's manual and watching their videos and I just couldn't smoothly and easily thread my machine. Thanks so much for your video. I wish I had found it sooner.

when you are shopping for needles, it will say what they are for on the package -- it will depend what you are sewing.

I just got a new sewing machine. My old Singer is from 1976, so things are different! The instruction manual is almost useless. So, THANK YOU!!!! Now I have a bobbin threaded! Yay! (I took the horizontal and vertical to mean the thread placement, not the spool.)

I'm a guy and I found an old Singer sewing machine on the side of the road, too good for landfill so I took it home. It was like new but I gave it a good oil and clean anyway. Great to be able to sew up ripped clothing etc and save money at the same time. Perhaps my life has reached a new level of boring but sewing stuff seems kinda fun!

I was given a machine to increase the materials I can play with recently and finally sat down to figure it out. The manual was a touch vague and not super clear... partly because I read it with male eyes instead of reading it. Thank you so much.. I messed up the tension part so everything looked good until I pressed the pedal could not figured out why it was so messed up while testing. This is the first thing to come up when I searched for help. So again thank you for making this video. :)

I just bought a 1950's trident sewing machine and have no idea what i'm doing but for 20 bucks its cheap to learn on, just buy a cheap one william and that way when your a pro you can get a good one. video's like this help loads, and yes, ignore the potty mouths. thanks for posting

Thanks, that was helpful. I just inherited a Singer Melody 40, it looks very similar. I have the instruction manual, but it was far easier setting the machine up by following the video. After watching, I sewed my very first project, attaching quick release buckle fastenings to webbing straps, to tie a saddlebag to a motorcycle seat.

The online manuel found on the Singer site was so shotty I could barely make out the diagrams for details. Hence, I cant tell you how awesome it was to come across your video today ! FINALLY the exact older machine I have (the 4525).. yes they say many machines are similar... yet through trial and error with other videos featuring other machines there still wasn't the info I needed. I'm using a Singer 4830c, just a bit different from the machine in the video. I was not able to get the bobbin thread to pop through the needle area using the manual crank. Instead I pressed the foot pedal slowly and it did pop up through the spot under the needle.
