Beautiful bias join. I can use this also for my quilt binding join. Thank you for all the great visual sewing methods and tips. Love the weights to ensure the jacket hangs properly. Fantastic.

I know you're a professional seamstress & do amazing work, but I really appreciate when you make a mistake. You laugh it off & keep going. I also appreciate your patience with the video. Love the plaid & matching jacket; perfect for that era. My mom loved Jackie Kennedy & how stylish she was.

Thank you, yes, a very Jackie look 😊 every sewing project will have its own set of challenges I believe. And I also think that a lot of video producers just edit out any problems that they might have come across to appear like everything is always fine. But that's not really reality is it? I think it's important to remember the process of sewing is supposed to be interesting. And sometimes it's those unseen challenges that really make you grow.
@tammyjanzen85332 жыл бұрын
I agree. I'm not as advanced as you are. Sewing is therapy for me. I mostly sew for grand kids & make prizes for my piano students. I mostly make dresses & skirts for myself. I weigh 95 lbs on my fat days haha so it's challenge to get clothes to fit that are grandma appropriate./Thanks again for sharing your gift. I've been trying out some of your ideas.

Hi Marie, I am still catching up on past videos. I love the look of this Jacket with the plaid dress, especially with your auburn hair! The chain is genius too and elevates the whole piece. I have never seen a channels Jacket so had no idea it was her thing, but saw you use it in your recent jacket for you daughter and assumed that to be the case. Thank you for a great video. ❤

I did like your response to the question about how you choose your fabrics. Obviously you enjoy color and pattern, and your finished garments are the best. Perhaps the commenter has not watched the many cool clothing items on KZbin being made from old bedsheets and table cloths. One channel that I love to watch showed how to make a winter coat from an old blanket. It actually turned out much better than I thought it would. People like you are quite creative, and luckily this creativity is shared with us.

@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Natasha! So the costume is a work in progress for this fall's Renaissance Fair season. It actually has the Lacy nightgown that I made as a chemise. And I used the same pattern from that blue princess seam dress to make the leather looking lace up vest. Going for a Scottish Warrior Queen type person🤣😁

I would love a video showing your methods on cutting fabrics. Do you cut your paper pattern first? Fabric weights? Pins? Rotary cutter or scissors? Any other tips? It just seems to take me so long. Thank you! Love all your videos!
@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I think I have shown different parts of my cutting process and various videos but every project is a little different. In general, I pin everything, and I pin it well enough that I will be able to mark all the markings easily. I also take my time when I am cutting out things. And I use scissors unless it is a strip of something, then I might get out an angry rotary cutter. 🤣 And it does take me awhile also 😊

Boy does this bring back memories of tailoring classes. I absolutely loved them, but haven't done anything like that for a very long time and it was wonderful to see all that. I was just wondering what would have happened had you trimmed of a little of sleeve head thereby making it little easier to put in the sleeve without puckering. Just a thought.
@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea! The fabric was not being agreeable and I think that I got a little frustrated at that point :) The thing with sewing is that there are so many ways to deal with every situation :) Thanks for watching :)
@lynnleipold26172 жыл бұрын
I remember sewing with ultrasuede in the 70’s. You sure couldn’t put pins in that. You would leave holes in it.
@mybucoliclife2 жыл бұрын
Yes, This fabric had that look one one side but the other gave it away as a rough polyester :) Not nearly as soft as Ultrasuede either,unfortunately :)
@lynnleipold26172 жыл бұрын
@@mybucoliclife It turned out cute anyway! I think I might have put on the binding like a quilt binding with mitered corners. Do you think that would have been too bulky?
