Mel, those pink colors look absolutely gorgeous on you. Even though you think the jacket is too “boxy” and big for you, it actually looks 🤩 perfect.

This is on my cutting table and I admit I'm a bit nervous about so many steps. I appreciate you showing us the process Mel. Your blazer turned out to be gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing more of what you make. xx Karen

It looks sooo beautiful. I decidet to ad small shoulder pads to give it a bit more strukture. I love it.

Thank you so much for watching! Shoulder pads are always a great idea for structure!

Great job, it turned out beautifully. I think in winter with a lovely pink turtleneck sweater underneath over jeans for a casual look or dress pants for work would look awesome. I agree with you on the satin/silk linings they make you feel sweaty when wearing a t-shirt or tank underneath. Thanks for the in-depth review.

Definitely agreed about the pink turtleneck! Thanks for watching! 😊

Hi Melanie, the result is stunning! I agree with you on the fact that cotton fabric feels much nicer against the skin than the satin lining recommended. However, for the sleeves I think it's easier to slip on and off if it's a satin fabric. Thanks for the video!

Thank you so much for watching, glad you like the finished result. I agree with you about the cotton vs sating lining 😊

Thanks so much! I definitely think I will make another one eventually, although it may not be too soon (I think I need a blazer break)! I will definitely post about it when I make another one! 😊

Have you tried rayon for coat linings? It has the drape you need for a lining and it’s just slippy enough to let you put your arms in and out of sleeves and it is more breathable than the traditional acetate or satin. Well done with this blazer. It looks lovely!

Oh that is such a great idea, honestly the though never crossed my mind! Maybe I will have to try that next time. Thanks for watching and commenting! 😊

Hello - am in process of making one of these myself. I’m using cotton voile for the lining. I really like the white top you are wearing. Did you make it and if so, could you tell me what the pattern is? Thank you
@MadeByMelm11 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes the white top in the into is made from the Stitch Witch Patterns Tudor blouse pattern (the wrap variation included with the main pattern) and I used a double cotton gauze. In the try on clips I am styling the blazer with a white lululemon tank top! Hope this helps!

First cardinal rule of sewing - prepare your fabric. You will never have accurate cutting unless you iron your fabric first, as in the case of your lining.

Great point! Usually I do if the fabric is really wrinkled, but sometimes I skip it if I think I can get away with it. Thanks for watching!
