Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
This dress has so many aspects that I was not expecting! And, yes, that is why this turned into a 2 hour plus video! I had to make a couple pattern alterations, including lowering the bust and widening the sleeve bicep area. Also, this dress has an amazingly large skirt, which is so fun, but cumbersome at times. It has fun darts and an invisible zipper. I made a couple mistakes along the way and showed how I fixed them. Wrapping things up with a grosgrain ribbon waist stay and horsehair braid hem Now I have a dress ready for holiday festivities.

If you need to wash the dress, it wouldn't take long to snip off the buttons and sew them back on after it is washed.

The only time I have absolutely needed four-way stretch is for leotards and swimwear. Nice to see your explanation as to why you think they wanted four-way stretch on that dress. It doesn’t initially make sensez

I learn something every time I watch your videos! Thanks ever so. I love the fabric here, but that would be way too much dress for me to wear. I am struggling with finding what is flattering AND comfortable as I’ve gotten older. It makes me nervous to choose a pattern because if it’s unexpected I have all that heart and soul into the project.
