Use a walking foot to help match seams up especially with tricky slippery or stretchy fabrics. Or fabrics with a nap such as velvet.
Evenly feed fabric under the feed dogs to match stripes & patterns.

Another fantastic video. I've been sewing for years but it's just by the seat of my pants. Lol I'm getting ready to sew some sleeves that I had to cut off some t-shirts for a lady I work for and every time I sew knit I worry so much. I watched another video and got the right needle put in my sewing machine but I had no idea what that foot was in my drawer. I have acquired lots of sewing feet and things from either a friend or mother-in-law or my mother. LOL thank you thank you thank you! I told my daughter she needed to start watching you as well. She is a new sewer. ❤

Lovely match up on the striped, stretchy fabric! I have a walking foot which I have not used yet and I'm about to try it on some scraps of jersey (I don't have an overlock machine.) So here goes. Thanks for your tutorials.

I use it for quitting . I'm thinking about using it for stretching fabrics .

is there ever a time when you shouldnt use a walking foot?

In general sewing if you are getting good results using the walking foot there is no reason not to use it. There are circumstances where you need to use an alternative presser foot for best results such as zips and buttonholes. Alison xx

@@sarahe6629 I would start with your standard foot. But if you have one awalking foot is good for slippery & stretch fabrics as well as matching stripe & patterns. Alison xx
