Yes, I remember grade 7 and 8, for me it was called home economics. We made a bolero, skirt, and pants. That was 1971 and 1972! Nice to meet your mom. ✌️

Its too bad they don't offer it up in school anymore. I took cooking as an elective when I was in Jr. High, but that was it, there was no option for anything else. I think most students could use a course that includes basic sewing, basic cooking, household budgeting, cleaning, and quick home repairs. Something like that would have done myself and others a lot of good. Better to have a little knowledge of how to survive on your own before you get the trial by fire!

HEYYYY Nikki's Mom! Such a pleasure to see her on screen. That MiMiG set is awesome! It's amazing, I think everyone's favorite pieces are the ones we truly take our time to complete and add extra touches. I don't like tracing either, but I do it A LOT, just kind of used to it now - LOL! You didn't take your mom's Thread Magazine did you - hahah! Love that top your mom is wearing. I can tell your mom is going to miss you, but I'm sure she'll be coming to visit you in Arizona soon!

I am probably her age and I am so similar to her...I like the quiet so I can concentrate, am meticulous or maybe perfectionist to the point I refuse to be defeated by a project but I can’t just throw it out. No, I didn't film while we were shopping, and we were going to do a haul video together, but we ran out of time. A lot of people wanted a piece of the Nikki action while I was home visiting. However, I do have a room tour of mom's sewing space which I think everyone will love, and I will show you my haul as soon as I have my space set up. Which will be in about a hundred years because I have to leave town for two weeks!

I would have loved to have my granny here as well, she used to tape the Nancy Zeiman show off PBS and rewatch them. I have a lot of memories of sitting in her sewing room with her looking at all of the little bits and pieces of sewing stuff she had and generally ruining any chance at sewing she got!

You could eat off her floors in the rest of the house, but she tidied up that sewing room for you. I am the opposite, I have dishes in the sink and dog hair everywhere, but my sewing room stays neat as a pin! For me, I need to start with a clear space and a clear head.

Wow - how very special to “meet” your mom Cindy and hear her sewing history! I saw the fabric from Haberman’s on page 20 of the new Threads Magazine. The sleeve cap section starts on page 72-75. Read Nikki, read! Tell your mom that I hang my PDF patterns on wooden pants hangers with a color picture on the front for easy reference! I’ll be delighted to see her sewing room too. It’s just precious to see you two together.

I think this was one of the first fabrics I bought and I believe the problem was that I didn't buy enough to pattern match, either that or I was being lazy. Not sure!

Christine, I am in the new place! I just had to unpack everything because it was too hard for my boyfriend to figure out where all of our stuff goes. So, I finally got back to making some videos and sewing just the other day.
