We all make mistakes & as you said no one is going to see the underneath of the collar. Well done, and look forward to seeing it completed. Love the fabric.

Besides finding inspiration, tips and tricks in the sewing community I find it so relatable when sewing mishaps are also shared, so Thanks for sharing that part too, I have some projects that have given me some headaches, I have let them rest for a while, coming back to them after a while has helped get through them and finish them. I can imagine how your days are with a crawling baby! They never get tired!! The exploring never ends! So thanks for also finding a time to share your videos. Take care!

I am so proud of you not to give up. We all make these same mistakes but you have to go public as you teach us and we thank you! I love your presentation as like a friend next door. We DO appreciate SAM also and he must be very talented and patient to help you and thus us also. Little Taylor has a lucky mom who sews so beautifully for him. Enjoy your little family and we love to see what you sew

I enjoy all your videos Tamlyn, so I'm just glad to hear from you. Yeah.. the collar flamboozle. But the one good thing is that these "fixes" eventually make you really able to re-mend, re-envision and re-make something. I never enjoyed doing that before but now I'm taking so much satisfaction in doing all 3 with pieces and parts of extra fabric and old favorite clothes that I want to revitalize. It's become like a meditation. Cute Taylor shirt too!

Lovely video - so interesting. Argh ! totally empathise with your disastrous sewing day....that’s horrible when that happens...but never mind, when we take a break and a deep breath we realise that it’s all part of building experience...the learning process...sometimes uplifting and sometimes so frustrating.

Greetings from Florida! As a 70ish sewer who has nimbly avoided sewing any collars at all, congrats on powering thru the collar situation! Historical sewers often pieced the undersides (and sometimes the less obvious parts of the top sides!) of their projects. Remember, Piecing is Period! The jungle print is glorious on the khaki background! It will look great on you. Just subscribed and I am looking forward to more visits. First though, I will browse your past videos. Stay safe and give your Mum an extra hug from me for being such a help to you.

Ah, what a nice video. We all make mistakes but at least you persevered and sorted it. Looking forward to the finished garment. Taylors shirt is lovely. So tiny and cute. Love the idea of putting a dress label on the front as well. I love first for fabrics. Three miles away from me and they are fantastic. I also got my new Sew Hayley Jane box this afternoon and your first fat quarter project is in. I'm definitely going to give it a go as this months fat quarters are gorgeous. x

I’ve not sewn a shirt with a collar for 40 years or more, if I’d not JUST done Tilly’s Rosa shirt tutorial I bought before Christmas, I’d have been totally lost and easily mixed up too! I feel for you, and can see how much it affected you, how sad, but really well recovered Tamlyn, and thanks for sharing with us. I usually learn so much from all the mistakes I make, then I can praise myself for being a ‘genius’, lol x

This post is serendipity for me. I am making a shirt dress and have just read the instructions about "rolling the yoke". And later pulling the rolled section out. I have a few steps to go before reaching that step. I mentally told myself some research is needed. I am learning from you and will do some research before continuing. Thank you.

Love the story! You just got the best training possible for learning how to make a full collar with collar stand. It's quite a process! Congrats 👏. I learned a long time ago to ALWAYS read thru the whole pattern first. It can stop problems right from the start! Beautiful shirt for baby boy! Keep up the videos, you're fabulous 😍

Tamlyn I feel you pain, last Summer when sewing a Sew over it Penny dress I messed up the collar 3 times.Twice I had to reorder a half metre of fabric and it was an atelier brunet so expensive. Hi Tamlyn. All your Vlogs are great. Your other ones are super professional (love the bloops!) and this new style is close up & personal - love the combination of both 👍 Taylor’s shirt is ace. I look forward to the pattern release, as I have a new grandson. Well done for sticking with your Lyra dress - I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end. BTW I think the amount of sewing etc. you get done is amazing considering you have a baby. Stop being so hard on yourself 😉

Whenever you can get around to the video is great. I'm 65, but I've been babysitting my granddaughter since she was an infant. I know how fast they grow up. Enjoy! I hate unpicking. I always wait a day or two afterwards to calm down. It's just frustrating.
